Question Why do you attend iGaming conferences?

There are many reasons affiliates attend iGaming industry conferences.

Some examples include getting a pulse on the industry, meeting with affiliates, affiliate managers or industry suppliers. attending networking events or parties, attending conference sessions, or simply to get away for a few days.

Besides voting in the poll to indicate some of the most important reasons for attending trade shows from your perspective, be sure to post about your personal experiences. Share some of the high points, and maybe some of the low points as well.

I'm especially interested in understanding how you feel conferences have most benefited you. And how important conference sessions have been for you.

The reason I am thinking about conferences today is that I attend a lot of them and have just posted an announcement about a conference taking place in London next week in the following thread: GPWA Member 50% Discount on Digital Marketing Forum & Betting on Football Conference.

Surprised to see that I'm the only one voting - I don't.

EDIT: Mind you there were only 2 voters - so the initial post had 5 reason votes.

I attend 2-3 conferences a year, only the biggest ones. The main goal is to meet with affiliate managers so my day is always filled with meetings. Conferences are a great opportunity to catch up and meet face to face with the managers. I rarely attend training sessions as I don't find them useful at all.

Here's why I would attend iGaming conferences.

    1. The free drinks.
    2. The free goodies.
    3. The pretty ladies.
    4. Meeting other affiliates.
    5. Meeting affiliate managers.

    In that order

Usually to negotiate better deals, (when adding new brands) or improve current deals... I usually do just one day then the rest enjoy the country

For me personally there are a number of reasons. I want to get to know up close the people I am working with. I have also gotten to know that affiliate managers are much more willing to negotiate a better deal at conferences as opposed to Skype or any other IM. Also, the insights you get from such conferences are often valuable and just talking to people there might give you a whole new stream of ideas to work on.

I use this forum for new ideas so one more reason not to go haha
But gotta admit, swaying people to your terms of a deal is a lot easier in person.

I attend the conferences as it is a great way to network and meet partners and discover new ones. You will also get a good sense of the pulse of the industry in a less formal manner which may not be ready for publication.

Really it would be just to talk to the affiliate managers down there and see what sort of commission deals we can agree to work on together.

Aside from meeting with affiliate managers face to face, I tend to get a lot of out of the seminars in the conference rooms at conferences - although I must say that the set-up for the LAC this year was by far the worst that I've been to sadly. Open-plan seminars with soft benches rather than proper seats just doesn't work IMO if you're intending to sit still and listen for any length of time.

Always good to hear feedback! We are looking at ordering benches with backs for the future as we realise the soft furnishing didn't work.

Completely noted that the open plan didn’t work too well with noise interference – we are working with our AV team to ensure the sound carry’s more for the next event.

"Why do you attend iGaming conferences?"

Because it's the greatest stage to see our fearless leaders, representing freedom of speech.

Moreover, I believe, the hooker-like bunny girls at several booths are the best public presentation of this industry to the audience.

And it's so wonderful to meet all these worthy successors of James Hydrick and Peter Popoff.

Finally, I ensure, that my privacy data, which is on the illegal lists, without permission shared and sold on iGaming conferences, that this data is updated, the least I can do.

    Leopold

To meet people I work with and fellow-affiliates.

The show itself doesn't interest me very much. Booths with freebie crap, uninformed affiliate managers, appointments that figure just as part of their KPI to have a full agenda, a lot of rogue programs, etc.

Mainly for networking purposes with other affiliates.
