Will the new Chief Twit be good or bad for Twitter?

Last Thursday, October 27th, Elon Musk acquired Twitter in a USD $44 billion deal and made the now-famous tweet “The Bird is Freed.”

One certainty is that there will be upheaval at Twitter in the coming months. The first day, Musk, who refers to himself as the Chief Twit, promptly fired the previous CEO, CFO, Chief Legal Officer and the general counsel with rumors substantial cutbacks across the company will be forthcoming.

For this week’s poll I ask if you expect changes at Twitter will prove to be positive or negative. Besides voting in the poll, please share your thoughts about Twitter in general, and whether or not and how you make use of it. Plus your view of the changes currently underway.

Elon Musk is no saviour of Twitter, instead this freed bird may turn out to be a Dodo. He will probably also use it, like he has in the past, to manipulate markets in his favour and to direct his almost cult-like followers to invest in some new “Doge Coin” type scenario.

I agree with you completely in terms of the effect he's having. But I'm not convinced Musk's ego is capable of seeing that. There's also the issue of there not being a viable alternative. Twitter has huge reach for a specific type of messaging. Other SM doesn't achieve the same effect. For Twitter to truly fall the journalists will need to leave. And that won't happen until there's a genuine alternative imo.
