Wordpress Spell Check

All of the sudden my spell check in Word Press is not working. It always says there are no miss spellings when there are. I am a horrible speller and now I have to copy and paste into Microsoft Word to check my spelling. Does anyone know how to fix spell check in WordPress? It will be back to the good life if I can get this fixed!

Be careful pasting back into wordpress from Word also.

Best practice is to paste back into notepad, then copy back into the clipboard and back into wordpress.

By pasting directly into wordpress, you risk pasting the Office formating into the wp documment. It may look correct, but the code may contain all the office tags.....(this would add a lot of additional unnecessary code)

I have never used a spell check via wordpress, I just use google chrome and that normally picks up my errors.

I use a FireFox spell check plug-in. It checks your spelling where-ever you are: WordPress, forums, etc. It won't help if you can't differentiate between words like "blue" or "blew". So it would not correct "The wind blue all day". You still need to use part of your brain for that. ;)

WordPress does offer a solution for Word to WordPress pasting. Just click on the Word icon in the text editor and this allows you to paste directly from Word.

Good point. I have noticed that before and forgot to check the last few posts I made.

I just dont understand how the spellcheck button in WP works fine for years and then all of the sudden it doesnt work. It has be an upgrade issue or something I guess.

I have tried using the paste from word button a few times but it sometimes allows some office formatting in there, so I only ever use the copy paste twice routine.

Good point though Ixian since I didn't mention it and that will work for most people.

Could it be that the browser was doing it, and you've changed browsers?

My wordpress sites have never had spell check on them so I can't give any advice there.

Unless you're suddenly using the html part to write your text instead of the WYSIWYG?

most likley the WP spelling file was some how corrupted.
I've seen it happen in firefox before, but never in WP.

try pushing a new WP update or manually reinstall the last update, that should overwrite any corrupt file.

Ok I will try to update it. I hope it works cause its a pain in butt writing it in wordpress, copying it over then pasting back to wp. ug!

I've always used spellcheckplus.com, works for me
