Lightbulb Is it worth trying to be a gambling affiliate anymore?

I am thinking about launching a gambling affiliate website. Does the average Internet marketer still have a chance at making good money in this niche?

Depends on how much effort you are willing to put. It's not a question with an exact answer. If you have high expectations for the first year or so you might get disappointed. If you decide to stick around and have a quality website for a few years things will definitely change.

So to answer your question, if you are willing to put a big portion of your free time in this for an 'x' amount of time then yes it's worth it. If you are looking for a way to make quick bucks with the so called banner farm site, then don't bother.

Yes - it's possible to make good money.
No - you probably won't be one of them.

The average "internet marketer" - no IMO. What is your definition of "good money"? It's possible and relatively easy if you don't follow what most people are doing, mediocrity won't cut it.

    Hey Blendtec.

Can I ask - what is it that most people are doing that everyone is doing? I'm Trying to get a handle on what to avoid at least, as learning what to do to succeed is understandably going to be hard info to come by

    Thanks

Affiliate marketing's like advantage play in that everyone likes the idea of being able to build something themselves and be their own boss. It's the dream just about every working age adult has.

When i get asked about shuffle tracking i almost always give the same response - "don't waste your time, it is possible but it takes so much time and work to master, alongside having an exceptionally sharp eye naturally, that you're almost certainly not going to manage it" - i'd estimate that less than one in ten of the people i've spoken to over the years has taken that advice and so far i'm not aware of a single person i've spoken to becoming proficient at the technique. Affiliate marketing might not be quite as difficult as that and a lot more people have low to mid level results, but i suspect that relatively few ever achieve really big success in the field.

I would say its definitely got harder, since you are paid for new players, more players now have active accounts, competition is tougher, but there is still good money to be made, otherwise you wouldn't be seeing 1000s of gambling sites with affiliate links.

It would be interesting to see what things will look like in 10 years time, who will be left standing? will affiliate commissions be less?will the US market open up?

I would say give it a go if you are prepared to commit at least a year's worth of work, it would probably be wise to buy an existing site on flippa or somewhere and get a headstart.

Just because you are opening a hotel it doesn't mean you are gonna get to the level of Hilton. Plus not everyone wants to be that big, and there are plenty of family hotels that support households. Same goes for sites, I don't think why people are always trying to compare and feel less just because they are making a couple of thousands and not hundreds.

If you look at the profiles of most of the big companies today, you would notice that they showed up in the beginning of the 1900s, even earlier (Coca Cola 1886). So relax, enjoy your work and let it grow...

About Gooner's response, I gotta agree with him. My argument would be that if you need someone to tell you that you are going to make it, and literally hold your hand and give you a pat on the shoulder to go on, you don't have what it takes to pull it off, cause things will be tough and in the beginning.

On the more joke-ish side, telling someone that they won't make it, is a good way to lower the competition ha ha.

The only thing that concerns me the most about this industry is that you are at the mercy of the programs you promote. Therein lies your success or failure.

and that's why it's important to make good relationships with good people in this industry, hopefully - the reason we're all here.

I think there's a lot of money to be made in this business but it sure ain't easy.

There is definitely good money to earn. It's tough though, yet not impossible. Find good programs to work with, build a nice site, provide fresh content, get active in social media and be patient.

Come on mate, lets tell him the truth. The market is saturated and there is absolutely no way anyone new can make any money, not even a single dollar. I'd just give up now if I were new. Try shoes. People always seem to be on here spamming shoes, so it must be good.

Default Start a gambling affiliate site or not?

I've been in this business for more than ten years. Reading the posts in this thread makes me realize I'm not the only one who finds things aren't like they used to be in the early 2000s. My son is contemplating starting his own affiliate marketing site. I'll ask him to read the various opinions, it might help him decide.
