Default Would you advise for/against promoting Betfair?

    Hello all,

I am think about promoting Betfair on superbigwin.nl but the severe 2010 bonus fiasco that I have read about has put me off a lot. I do not want to promote a casino/sportsbook that (at least on this occasion) is unfair to the players. Have things changed for the better since then? How is their treatment of their customers? Has it improved? How do they treat their affilates?

Thanks for any thoughts and or advice.

I work with Betfair and they are fine with regards to communication etc. They also pay on time, and in all of those regards I have never had a problem.

Not sure what you mean by unfair to players, though I may have missed something in the past.

I've been betting with Betfair for many years, no problems of any type (deposits, reasonable size withdrawals, placing bets etc etc)

Consistently give better odds than anywhere else - on the exchange anyway (example a 40-1 shot SP yesterday that returned over 80-1 on Betfair SP) ...though I do focus on horse racing, not sure if odds disparities stretch to football etc...I would imagine they do)

As such (and assuming they do offer better odds across the full range of sports betting on the exchanges), then I'd say if you want to be showing your players the best options, then you should have them on side.

Not quite the same on fixed odds, I normally see better fixed odds (pre-race) on Victor and Bet365

As far as casino, poker, bingo etc. Don't know about those, though I don't see why they should be much better or worse than dozens of others.

I will post now that others wont. It seems they are just happy taking their player earnings every month. But yes Betfair did scam and cheat lot of players because of an awful promotion >

    http://www.casinomeister.com/rogue/betfair.php

    copyright casinomeister posted below:

Betfair Casino ran a promo on Saturday 13 November which offered an unlimited happy hour bonus with only 10x playthrough. When they realized how much they were losing, they changed the playthrough amount to 20x and began locking accounts and confiscating winnings.

Even though players had risked their own funds and met the posted wagering requirements, they were given the "speak to the hand" treatment and were told that they had not played in the "Spirit of the Bonus."

Enforcing a "spirit of the bonus" clause is something that a rogue Costa Rican clip shot joint would have pulled years ago. Most rogue casinos wouldn't even try to pull a stunt like this now. For the player, the "spirit" is to win; for the casino, it's for the player to lose, right?

From Casinomeister's philosophy and mission statement section:
    "Spirit of the Bonus"
No such animal. If the casino offers a bonus, the casino should not assume on what grounds the bonus should be accepted. If the player wants to just play and watch the reels spin or is playing to make a profit, it is not up to the casino to enforce subjective terms like "spirit".
Betfair was a Casinomeister Accredited Casino, but they were removed from the Accredited section as soon as this episode began to unfold. Complaints at Casinomeister began to pile up, and Max forwarded these to Betfair's casino representative. He responded to only the first batch with a blanket response - again - referring to players exploiting the spirit of the bonus. He recommended that players contact the LGA if they had any problem with this.

Malta's LGA is one of the most non-responsive licensing agencies ever. You might as well complain to the mailman.

Of course, the player issues spilled out into the forum. One startling note is that a player has reported that Betfair paid his winnings into his bank account, only to remove them later. Alarming behaviour for a publicly traded company.

As Vinylweatherman stated here, "Betfair are trying to make out they are victims of mass "bonus abuse", rather than victims of their own incompetence." It looks like he hit the nail right on the head.

Players need to be aware that Betfair will confiscate winnings at a whim. If they don't like the way you play, even though you risk your own funds and meet the wagering requirement, they will exercise their right to seize your winnings.

Avoid this casino at all costs.

Thank you all for your replies and yes, the thread on casinomeister was the one that caught my attention. On one hand I want to promote Betfair as they have a pretty new product for the Dutch market (although there are other options as well) and they have a very extensive casino. But a casino that shows this kind of behaviour is not something that I want to promote to my customers. I am kind of hoping that maybe they have learned from this experience and that after this bad ordeal they have made sure to improve their customer service. Have they had any similar problems since 2010?

Why not just give them a try. I think it will change your mind but try to give it a try.
