I've installed a plugin to change the location of the wp-admin page. If you type mysite.com/wp-admin it re-directs to Google. When I try it, it works, I can only login at the redirected address. However I'm still getting automated hacking attempts everyday, and although they are unsuccessful, they are still able to enter a username and password. Anyone know how they are doing this? The plugin I'm using is Stealth Login Page
Why that complicated?! Just setup a .htaccess to secure your complete wp-login.php and wp-admin
And if you are working on this, take care that you lock all bots from your wp-admin in robots.txt like:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /wp-admin/
Also, consider dropping the Wordpress files in a directory other than the home directory. It "should" be yoursite.com/somefolder/wp-admin
I use stealth login page plugin, but it only gives authorization code and redirects all unauthorized attempts to other url.
If you want to rename the login page, install all in one wp security plugin (Brute Force---Rename Login Page).
Try out the iThemes Security plugin, really helpful to fully protect your website. Not an advertisement, just had problem with hackers and this plugin helped ;)
You can also give "All In One WP Security" plugin a try. It has many security features, one of which is renaming the wp login.

We recently had a thread where we discussed the main features of the word press security plugins and most of the ones mentioned above were previously mentioned, if I run across the link I will post it for future reference.
