    Default Written.com?

Anyone used these guys or know much about them? They have been in touch and want to license some of our content but I'm not exactly clear how it works. If we could keep our affiliate links I don't see we'd have much to lose, other than it would cause a reasonable drop in our site traffic which could impact SEO negatively maybe?

    Cheers,
    Bob

so basically they want to reuse your content on other sites? if that is the case I'd worry about duplicated content and that could cause all sorts of problems

They use redirects and some other techno stuff that goes above my head to avoid any dupe content issues and, so they claim, there are no problems with indexing, ranking etc etc.

The words 'barge pole' come to mind. From a quick scan it looks like you have to redirect the original article from your site to the new host site - can't be good for seo.

This license moves the content to the marketer’s site, along with the audience. Visitors who attempt to visit the article on the publisher’s site are redirected to the article on the marketer’s website until the license ends.

Does it come with Do follow links? if so it wont hurt.. I have a lot of my content syndicated on various sites.. without permisson.. but so far it's been positive SEO wise as it's always backlinked to me.. it shouldnt drop your traffic but boost if implemented properly.. look at all the major news sites... same article syndicated 2-4000 times.. it will build authority

Took a look at their site.. and have seen similar.. you do get the backlink " rel=canonical tag pass juice" and they stuff the article with their own ads or charge a monthly fee

Really I'm more interested in hearing what people think on the SEO side and if they've had any direct knowledge of the site. The issue is we have an article with loads of traffic but no conversion and this could be a way to monetise it if it didn't impact the SEO of the site in general.

if they are redirecting from your site all the original good seo benefits from the article go to where the article redirects to

It's a nice concept but I won't use them. You give them not only your content but also your visitors.

So you write content then send it to another 3rd party site (amd redirect any traffic) in exchange you get paid $
seems pretty convoluted and a sure fire way of getting Google pissed of with you
