Default Xbox One or Playstation 4?

Anyone planning to get an Xbox One or Playstation 4 when they come out?

I've had pretty much every games console from NES to PS3 but haven't been playing that much lately, usually end up playing more on my phone and tablet device (Candy Crush Saga, Scramble w/Friends) than actually firing up the PS3 or Xbox 360.

But I'm sure when I see the next gen Tekken or some killer RPG I'll end up getting one hahah

Anyone else into videogames, and which way you leaning for the above consoles?

Here is how the consoles went for me: PS1, PS2, Xbox, Xbox360.

Can't say I play much now, I play fifa when I have friends round, and I love the zombie rounds on COD.

I'd consider jumping ship to PS4, I don't like having to pay if I wanted to play online. Also aren't xbox bringing out somesort of technology whereby you cannot buy second hand games? Sounds harsh to me.

Uhm, considering my "past"... Battlefield 3. I enjoy it a lot online, on Xbox. Can't wait for Battlefield 4!
But I love also "story games" such as Batman Arkham City, Tomb Raider (the new version)...

For now I'm playing Dead Island Riptide... funny!

I'd be siding with Xbox One except for the rumoured insistence that you connect to the internet to play. The time I most want to play on a console is if the internet is down!

Yeah who doesn't like shooting zombies? Haven't played Battlefield, more of a COD guy, might check it out.

Yeah I wouldn't be too keen if the rumours are true. We've only got to wait until December to find out

I'm not a gamer although I was in my younger days. We've currently a Wii and Mario Kart is about my limit now but think we might opt for an Xbox One.

It seems to be the one that the older kids fancy and I might even manage to get back into the spirit of things! Got some impressive other features too.

I have always been a very big fan of Microsoft products, and most gamers will admit that the Xbox is in many ways a superior product.

However, the steps they have taken to try and crush the secondary game market, and that attempt to force an additional payment by anyone that borrows a game from a friend, and attempting to stop anyone from selling a game once purchased is just the wrong direction to go.

The reason people are saying that the game has to be connected etc, is partially do to the fact that all games as well as the systems themselves will be tied in to your user account online.

From what I have read so far, if you decide to loan your neighbor a specific game, the allowance of the game to be played by anyone else will have to be authorized (and paid for) on the account. I think the temporary use will be estimated at $1.00. This is not a huge figure, but it goes against a customer's right to resell a product they legally own and purchased.

I do not support this and would not even consider their system based upon this.

I must agree with you Rick on Microsofts secondary game market reasoning. I can see why they want to do it and I think, at least the basic premise, of what they are trying to do is ok but they are going the wrong way about it. All they're really going to do is penalise the normal law-abiding public.

If you buy a game or a piece of software, you should be able to resell it (providing you do not copy it) any time you like and for any amount you like.

The person that buys that game or piece of software should have the same legal usage rights as the original owner.

Their new policy does NOTHING to combat piracy, but is directed at trying to capitalize (unfairly) on the secondary market...in essence trying to get paid twice on the same piece of code...

this article makes it appear that both systems xbox1 and ps4 are less backward compatable then I originally thought.

I think players that are used to Xbox will stick with it. I asked my son which one he would choose and why and he says the controls on the Xbox are more comfortable and PS doesn’t offer the Halo game. So I have to start saving for the new Xbox LOL

yeah that's pretty dodgy, I'm leaning toward the PS4 after reading that..

Even though it's only a dollar, it's pretty crappy that you'd still have to pay extra to play a game you pick up 2nd hand off ebay or borrow from a friend.

Most of the big games go multi-platform anyway so probably wont miss out on that much, though next generation Gears Of War would be pretty sick..

They've announced some more info about it - http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/gaming/n...microsoft.html - it all seems to me to cause pointless confusion around something that should be very simple. People buy consoles so they can pick up and play easily without worrying about all this stuff.

Thanks for posting the link Luke.

Yeah it's a dumb move. People fire up their console to de-stress and have fun.

The article also says 'Loaning or renting games won't be available at launch'. Games are usually ~$50-100ea over here. A lot of people rent games to see if they like them before they buy them. Don't know why they would need to over-complicate the gaming experience and make things more difficult for their user base.

Games reviews magazines will be more useful since you don't have a chance to really test a game out before you buy it too.

I'm gonna vote with my $$ on this one. Hope this isn't something that catches on.
