Default Build it and they will come

It is such a good feeling when you start to make money at this game.

I remember i made 0 for about 6-8 months and then i just cracked it - needless to say i have nearly no free time now - but thats the price you pay

The only advice i can give is keep at it - i nearly gave up a few time because of no progress but im a glad i stuck at it
I thought I wanted a career, turns out I just wanted paychecks

The Golden Rule for a site is to do what you do, VERY well. What that means is that you target a few phrases, and you do them clinically and neatly. You make changes and track the changes. If you go down after a change, you learned something. If you go up, you learned something. You cannot lose. However, if you target too many phrases, you cannot play the learning game anymore. That would be silly. You would be losing the one thing that gives you an edge as a Site SEO specialist.

Target Casinos, Online Casinos, Gambling, and other similar words and you are on a way way ticket to ""also ran". If you target "Gamble real money at online casinos" and pick up 10 visitors a day (you won't I don't think, this is an example), then you are in for a seriously good ride. You want less popular "buy" phrases. What you don't want is "Play online casinos for free" and similar phrases. Those are not "buy" signals.

Have fun. It's not about volume but rather about quality.
    Have a wonderful day

Hey, I'm glad you shared the info on finally making some $$$. I've been doing my site for rougly a couple months (http://www.casinodawgs.net) and have yet to see any money come in. On a positive note, I've noticed my search engine traffic take a big jump this past month (no idea why) so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping I see some signups. I was about to give up a few times (can be discouraging) but I spent some 6 months just desiging the site so I plan on sticking with it at LEAST a year and see what happens. Who knows... maybe in 3-6 more months I'll see my first affiliate check.

I had a site years ago before there were many. I gave up too soon on it.
Oh how I regret it now! The thing was back then I had no idea about key words etc, lol Wish I could go back in time Back then I had casinos contacting me to be put on the site and get reviewed .

This time I am keeping this site for the long haul. Three years from now, it will still be there. Even if I only get a few sign ups at a time, I will count on player retention, so I see it making money one way or another , even if it takes a little time to get there.

My site is a bingo site, though I also have casino links. But Bingo signs take longer, but they usualy stick when they do sign up.

I noticed with the free keywords I get a LOT of downloads, but not conversions. I am going to take your suggestion and try some new ones and see how it does But I do not want to drop my main free keyword as when I search it on msn, I am the first site that shows up with it out of like 900,000 thousand websites It brings the most "traffic"
I think what brings the most signs is how the spiders crawl sites, so when someone is looking for a review on a certain bingo hall, and type it in, mine site will come up, and that is where I believe the signs come from as far as bingo. (just an example) That and the top 100 site I host off my site.

I am coming up on the 6 month mark so hopefully I will start seeing some sign ups. So far I have gotten several friends to sign up at poker sites, but not much else. Have a hard time generating traffic which is probably everybody's problem.

I have had my site www.netpokerreview for over a year, but only started working on link exchanges and getting listed 6 months ago. Finally hit a PR update a couple months ago, but still not much traffic.

This is wierd. My pr went up and suddenly I am getting slammed with a lot of yahoo traffic. Do not know if this coincadence (cant spell that word, lol)
or that they just finally got me listed under my keywords , but I got a few more deposting players this month as a result so Im not complaining

I still do not get a lot of traffic off of google, Mainly MSN, and now Yahoo is outnumbering MSN in visits by a sudden major spike.

I wonder if there is a personality type profile to the different search engines.
MSN more consrvative, less likley to deposit, etc,lol

Is yahoo traffic spiking with traffic from one keyword or many? It's possible you hit a buzz word and generating extra traffic that way.

For example, I wrote a commentary earlier this year about Brett Farve retiring - suddenly I got a ton of yahoo traffic for Brett Farve keywords. Very poor conversion on that traffic (they weren't looking to gamble) but any traffic is better than no traffic.

Just a lot of my keywords. I havnt changed anything. I am thinking mabey I wasnt really listed in yahoo until now and it took them 8 months? lol

One of the keywords, is also the name of the site and it has me at number 2 out of 4 million listings. That one is pulling in the most.

My site is bingo and I usually only get 50 a day, suddenly those numbers are doubling. I used to get mabey 2 or three a day from yahoo, now this all of a sudden. Not sure what happened

It has brought some new players and Im estatic.

My new thing to figure out is how to further promote my forum. It gets a lot of visits, but not a lot of members signing up on it.

    Default Those Darn Keywords

Hi Guys, I might be a bit off topic here but my question is this:

The previous posts in the threads do focus alot on keywords. My question here is. How would one "change the keywords on your site quickly" ? Is this to do with the exactl phrases used in your site content (copy) ? I am struggling to understand how this can be done "quickly". Let's say your site get's indexed by google-bot once a week, then SERP for a certain keyword phrase that your page is optimized for will only appear once your site has been crawled.(which could take a while) Is this correct, or am I way off line?

    Phew, that's a long question...
    Hope it makes sense

I put my keywords in my metatags.

Google may take longer to pick up the change, but sites like MSN pick up the chnages almost immediatley.

    Hope that helps.
