Default Yet another new site review

Recently I've been trying to develop a site that tracks active betting offers, and then categorises them according to sport. It's taken a lot of fiddling and re-jigging of the structure and how the offers are displayed, but I think I've got it nailed now - would love to have some input on its usability.

    Site is: http://www.bettingoffers.org.uk/

On the site I show retention offers in one of two ways (depending on a couple of factors) - by offer and by event. So this means that big sporting events like the US Masters has its own page that summarises the offers (eg: here).

Each offer is then displayed on the home page and pulled into its relevant sports page - eg: the football one

Offers are displayed by date with upcoming events listed nearer the top of the page. Once the event is over it's automatically removed from the lists to keep everything neat and tidy (although it's still available in the archive).

So... what do y'all think? I'm mainly interested in finding out how easy the site is to use, and is there anything that I could be doing to make the site more useful to punters?

    Thanks muchly!

Ha ha, yeah it does feel like that sometimes. Having other people do 90% of my content makes things a lot easier though.

Looks great, lots of attention to detail. Especially like the bookmaker image sprite.

One very small thing I noticed in the copyright needs updating to 2013, wish I had more to offer but looks like you've got all bases covered.

Seems easy to navigate and it's very clear about the offers.

I would make the events more prominent though and be more clear about what the "events" section offers - if you land on the homepage, I'd think it's unlikely that many people would go to "events" rather than football or horse racing. An upcoming events section on the right side might help for that. I'd also think that people might be more inclined to convert based on the offers around the big sporting events rather than the sports in general, but that's just a hunch.

It is easy to navigate on this site and I think this is the most important thing for a new first visitor.

I agree with Luke, its a 50/50 for me whether to open with the events or the freebet offers - are you going to market it or get it ranked mostly around freebet terms?

Excellent website. One question thought, why does it look like Ben's website in terms of design?

    Good point actually.

I currently have the events pull into the same feeds as the other offers so they also appear on the home page in order of when they take place. I was originally thinking of having a seperate feed for events on the home page, but the problem with that is there is often a few days where nothing specific is going on so that feed would be blank until another event cropped up so decided against it.

I could stick a date sorted list of the last x number of events in the side bar - that'd end up showing events that have passed, but I guess it's no different to the 'latest offers' feed I have at the moment.

    Cheers for that!

[Edit - added an events feed in the sidebar]

This was another thing that took me a while to figure out - I switched back and forth between the two methods for a while and ended up settling on having a small number of free bets first.

As for traffic it'll partly be organic going after both free bet terms as well as individual offers (eg: football betting offers, grand national betting offers and so on), plus some highly specific PPC campaigns. Hopefully, if punters do find the site as useful as I hope it'll become, then it'll also get return visitors who are specifically looking for the retention offers.

I'm also planning on using the site as my main newsletter domain that users on my others sites will be directed to from the email lists. Eg: the sign up box on myothersite.com will display the message 'in conjunction with bettingoffers.org.uk' (or something along those lines).

Cheers, mate! Not sure what you mean about the design though - you referring to bonusbetting.co.uk? Personally I don't see any similarity other than the fact that both of the sites use a red color scheme.

It just struck me as familiar that's all. Maybe I am too familiar with his site
