    Default YMYL and gambling

In case anyone doesn't know what YMYL is (unlikely, but possible)...

According to the Google Guidelines, YMYL is the name for topics that “... have a high risk of harm because content about these topics could significantly impact the health, financial stability, or safety of people, or the welfare or well-being of society.

And (for obvious reasons) Google applies criteria to YMYL sites that would impact their ranking capabilities.

    **************

Given that definition, you might say there is a (very) strong argument that gambling in any form is a YMYL subject.

But I don't believe there is any evidence that Google (currently) treats it as such.

    So....

Do you think it's already subject to YMYL considerations?
Do you think it might be at some point?
Do you think there are valid arguments that it should never be, and the question will never arise? And why do you think that?

I always thought we are in that category? Gambling could ruin you financially and make you suicidal afterwards, therefore it sounds like it is YMYL? I actually thought Google has/had mentioned it, but have never checked myself.

Given that it's an 18+ category as well, and has to be kept away from children, can't see it being treated differently.

And why don't you believe that? If you have not yet felt the impact of this algorithm, it does not mean that it will not affect your site in the future Increase the authority of your site, and you will not feel the negative impact.

"these topics could significantly impact the health, financial stability, or safety of people""

I would say it definitely falls into the bracket based purely on the three above. Without thinking, the middle one is a no-brainer, and you don't have to think too hard to associate the other two.

So, personally, I agree it should be classified as YMYL. It's just I don't see any obvious evidence that it is.
