80 dollars is much money for this support, and you don't know if you will get a solution. The way I do it now also works and is free. But I have an older version. Did anyone hear of any security problems with older Yoast plugins? If there are only additional features in the new plugins I'm not going to spend money on it.
If there are security problems with the older plugin I might use the new plugin and the additional xml plugin or write something myself.

First I'm going to ask the question on Yoast support, if there is any. Or the forum at the Yoast website. I already found a few people with the same problem on that forum but they all got activate/deactivate kind of answers and that didn't work for me.

I have not heard of any ongoing security issues with this plugin, but if you do hear of any please let us all know here ASAP. Like I have said in other posts I do not currently use Yoast, but I do know many who do and if there is in fact an issue many could benefit by knowing.

80 bucks does seem to be a bit of change for support on an issue that many others have reported.

I would chance https://wordpress.org/support/topic/sitemap-is-blank and add your voice. Or, start a new thread here. (Yoast SEO plugin Wordpress.org support forum) It is in my opinion good to post on wordpress.org on top of asking in his forum. Nobody likes to 'see support questions left unanswered for too long on wordpress.org' is my opinion on that. This is no way should require you to pay $80, or any money at all. It is not that you need support with doing something you do not know, you need their plugin to work correctly for you. I've read in the above 'wordpress.org sitemap thread' that it is yoast based this error, and that you are not alone.

    Success.

I looked through the list of Yoast SEO features.

I argue that this plugin doesn't improve SERP positioning in any way. And it's evident it doesn't work properly, at least the XML Sitemap part of it, which is both the only good feature and the buggy feature.

The plugin doesn't improve your SERP of course. But the features it offers improve your website if you use them correctly.
    - Sitemap
    - Edit Titles and meta's (automatically or manually in posts, in categories etc)
    - Index and Follow tags
    - Open Graph data for social networks.

Those are the features I use at this moment.
