Do you work on holidays?

A few weeks ago Kaus asked the question "Do you work on weekends?" You can see the results of that poll in the thread www.gpwa.org/forum/do-you-work-weekends-173112.html.

Since tomorrow is a major holiday in the United States (it's Thanksgiving day), I thought it would be interesting to ask the same question about holidays. And I'm wondering if the answer will be a bit different. It seems that weekend time is used by a lot of gaming webmasters to work on their sites. Is the same true of holidays, or does the typical workaholic webmaster spend more of their holiday time with family and friends rather than with their keyboard and terminal?

Thanksgiving day is not celebrated in my country, therefore I work today. Usually I don't work on big holidays like Xmas, the New Year, my Birthday and etc. But on small holidays I can work.

Well I do work and I don't - on major holidays I check my emails and as I have a BlackBerry, I can work on important issues :joy:

With all the sports going on, and operating a sports handicapping website, its pretty hard to have downtime this time of year. Lots of 12 hour days, but the $$$ is well worth it. Downtime is after NBA season, till NFL training camps go back in. That all equals lots of time for travel and golf during May/June/July.

While I work most weekends, I do try to take at least a few holidays off. If I'm at home (as is the plan for tomorrow) I probably will work a little bit. But I usually spend holidays with friends/family. I wont be at m computer all day tomorrow!

I am afraid I am a workaholic - I do take time out to do the special family things on public holidays but inevitably will make sure that I still get a good couple of hours on the computer before heading off to bed at the end of the day

Today is Thanksgiving here and here I am working lol. Normally I wouldn't but the kids are elsewhere. Today is important to give thanks and count our blessings.

Granted I'm not working to hard. The turkey is making me sleepy and there is still the pies.

Since my home is also my office, I personally don't differenciate much between holidays, weekends and working days. Whether and when I work, during the holidays, depends on my wife, friends and neighbours. When we meet or go out, I don't work, otherwise I do.
