Thanks Chaumi. I will look at this going forward. I have updated the website some. Hope to do some major changes tomorrow and continue to add good content. Really want this to work. Trying not to get discouraged.

Try not to get discouraged even if it seems as if you're getting nowhere. There will be many on here that will tell you it took ages before their sites made any money.
It's not easy and it will definitely take more time - be prepared for that.
You are working in a competitive area against a lot of US webmasters with this 'daily fantasy sports'. Try searching the term (if you haven't already) and you will see what you need to compete with. Your target should be to get your site at least to the equivalent quality of some of those sites, if not better.
This may be the worst advice I have seen on this forum. No disrespect but internal links are the one linking factor as a webmaster you have control over and can use to your advantage. Internal links should ALWAYS have the same text or you are doing any internal linking a dis-service. You are in control of your website and able to optimize it internally to the best of your ability and Google likes that. The serps like to know that a link is telling you about a page and if you start using different text you may hurt your site dramatically and it may be considered black hat and/or spam as you are trying to trick the serps and giving a page different search results. Always keep your internal linking the same anchor text!
Interesting. The first time I've seen this perspective on it anywhere.
Over the last few months all the SEO talk I've seen from the supposed experts (and we know they're not all experts, we know they can get it wrong, we know they're not on G staff so may not actually know the truth - but some are highly regarded and will have tested/have direct experience) has been about not over optimizing anchor text. There has been no differentiation (to my knowledge) between external and internal. In fact they've clearly indicated internal is included (to my interpretation anyway).
Personally I've had sites penalised for over optimization. They had very few external links in, so the penalties were almost certainly for internal....and I'd used direct match anchor text throughout for internal linking. Admittedly I could have this wrong and the penalty was for some other form of over optimization, but can't see what else it could have been.
This is almost certainly worthy of a new dedicated thread...but let's see if we get some other viewpoints here first. If either one of us is wildly wrong then it will be valuable to know for sure...I suspect it's somewhere in the middle that's the sweetspot.
PS I have a page where I'll be able to directly test this. Well ranked with just one home page link (not exact anchor)...though of course the page could be ranking on the content merit alone rather than the home page juice (though extremely unlikely, not impossible). Just about to link to it internally where relevant to do so and in theory that should have a positive ranking impact (or at least not a negative one).
In my experience it will most likely take a few weeks for any effect but I'll report back.
Very interesting stuff. Learning a lot here. Thanks for responding.
