Tips For Using Pinterest Social Network

You saw no data because you didn't look. The screenshot, the method and even the ranking image is there, and there have been two additional follow-up images.

The guy simply said there was any actual real data that showed a relation between the two. And he is right, there isn't. Sure, there are images but images is far from proof.

Part of proving something is not just publishing results, but also accepting questions and criticism of the data, is it not?

Let's keep in mind that pinterest is mostly comprised of women and niches in that sector will do better on pinterest (cooking, household, recipes, etc.). This is not to say other niches will not do as good but it is important to understand the metrics of this particular social network.

10 months ago I posted the following so other could under understand how to best make use of Pinterest:

Currently, women make up about 82% of active users on Pinterest, according to Google Ad Planner. Comscore says women are the majority of social networking users, and spend 30% more time on sites than men. Plus, mobile social network usage is 55% female, according to Nielsen.

As for social validation - I registered a domain name when I made the announcement back in 2010 that search engines will be going towards social validation. Although I have nothing to prove the exact date of that registration was 11/28/2010.

talk about hijacking a thread! I asked a question and your rhetoric about how you are right and Ord is wrong is all I see on both threads.

If you are going to present theories, then at least show your work.
Shay hit the nail on the head, Part of proving something is not just publishing results, but also accepting questions and criticism of the data, is it not?
It is not that nobody believes your theory, rather you provided thinly veiled proof that it works, much like the cold fusion theory.

I pinned an image on my surebet page. Not sure did I do it properly but we'll see how it goes. I'm monitoring the rank with CuteRank Free Edition.

How exactly do you choose a keyword? Do I put it in the description or the title of the board?

Can I pin some cool sports image on another site and still get the link for OddsNavigator?

Your board title should have a targeted keyword, your description should have targeted keywords, and the only link you would be getting by pinning other sites is on your profile page. Personally, I try to look as active as I can with my pins, repins, and likes. A good mix of pins and repins will make it look like you're not spamming.

I have pictures of football players on my site. I noticed people really like the seahawks right now. People have been repinning the one seahawks player and I most likely will see more repins since my next blog post will have a seahawks player picture in it that I will pin.

Dan when you create a board you give it a title, that title should have your keyword/keyphrase in it. After it is created you can edit it and add a description, the description should also include keywords and semantically related words. Think of the title and description as your meta tags.

When adding the image you should also include your keywords/keyphrases in the description of that image. If you pin from another site you can include a link in your description pointing to your site.

And had Ord not questioned Pinterest the previous day and endorse it the next with highly published tips, and then lied about coining phrases and being a general nuisance IN THE FIRST PLACE and taking cheap shots at me for calling him out on it we wouldn't need the peanut gallery jumping in in his defence. Regarding pinning and following others on Pinterest:

Would the fact that a well-known and well-indexed pinner add credibility to my pins?

For example: lets say I have a sugar cookie recipe that I pin and the food network (pinterest.com/foodnetwork) repins it, does that then therefore add credibility to my pin and potentially give me a greater opportunity for ranking higher in SERPs since the food network is one of the largest driving forces of traffic on pinterest?

Not sure EasyPoker. I've never tested it. Partly because Pinterest just became mainstream, in terms of SEO techniques, in the last 6 months. There aren't really well-known or indexed spinsters per say.

If they use some sort algorithm to look at the sites truth and authority on the search engines that the Pinterest account is tied to then that's a possibility

if I were testing this I would also look at who the "prime sites" are linking to. If its anything like Google you will score points just by linking to trusted sites.

So will Pinterest be like many other social engines that we will need a dozen accounts if we plan on promoting a dozen niches?

Yes but I'm sure there will be an industrial strength tool like TweetAAdder or FacebookAdderElite for this purpose.

Right now I just use one of my personal accounts and group topics. I have SEO, Bingo,Vintage Rolex and the interests they feed you to select from for people to follow.

I get new followers every day not even trying from the SEO and the Bingo threads.

To answer your question we must first look at a few facts:

Pinterest went main stream over a year ago, they certainly are not new to the game. They have accumulated more users than facebook or twitter could ever hope to accumulate.

As we all know Food Network is an authority site and they currently do use social media for brand awareness. They currently have 89 boards, 2,000+ pins, 75,000+ followers and they have had over 500,000 repins. Pinterest is now referring more traffic to Food Network than Yahoo or Bing.

"We want to be on all the social platforms that our audience is on, and we also use Pinterest to drive traffic to our website, which we monetize," said Kate Gold, social media director at Food Network. "We are also hoping to drive interest for our shows. But the big part of it is really brand awareness and being part of a community."

Food network's Pinterest profile is even seen by Google as an authority as you can see by the search done here on google.

Because we all know (or should know) that Google does in fact include social validation in their rankings algorithm and we know that food network is seen as an authority, then the answer to your question is - Yes! You will gain credibility not only from Google but also from Food Network's followers.

By you gaining this credibility it does increase your rankings due to the social validation metrics that are used in search engines. It is very much the same as you linking to an authority website, you gain credibility with search engines for doing so.
