We use both for different sites, still don't know which one is best. Both offer the same thing really.
I have used both and to be honest I think Yoast is better. The basic hints rankmath is giving you are quite easy to just remember by yourself, whilst Yoast really highlights what you have missed (at least in my case).
My vote is with Yoast. I like how you can see what you are missing and it gives you clear direction.
Personally, I prefer Yoast Plugin.
I am voting for rankmath, have you tried rankmath pro it has special features.
I personally have stopped using SEO plugins like Yoast and RankMath since I don't believe they offer enough value to offset the (minor) page load speed hit, as well as overall clutter for the WordPress dashboard.
That being said, if you are a technical person I strongly suggest Snip Schema plugin - it gives you a lot more granular control over Schema code on blog articles that Yoast and RankMath can't match.
Hi Utanspelpaus
Although Rankmath offers a lot more in the free version than Yoast, still Yoast seems better to me, especially if you have a paid version of Yoast (Yoast Premium).
I would not recommend switching from one to the other.
There have been times I worked on a site that was acquired from someone else and the site had something other then Yoast on it.
Yoast actually has an import function and imports all the setting and take over rather well. There are steps to follow but it is not extremely difficult.
If you import from say AIO (all in one) there are a few extra advanced steps since after uninstalling AIO it leaves a few small traces in the database (if I recall only a few entries) which can be removed easily enough in workbench or phpmyadmin.
I agree though that if you decide on one to use you do not want to switch back and forth.
Lately I have been steering away from all other seo plugins and going toward yoast as it seems more productive to stay consistent across sites.

Rank Math because:
- everything that you need is included with free plugin, and you can just disable what you don't use
- extendible with code snippets/filters/hooks
- meta title/description templates which save you hours of manual input
- using custom fields within metas
- role manager lets you give certain accesses to editors/authors/etc
- good support
For us it's always the choice between free or commercial. I vote for Yoast as the best option, but only the paid commercial one. Rankmath is doing an awesome job with it's free version and has more features than Yoast in it's free version.
So for me; if you are looking for a free plugin Rankmath is the way to go, if you can afford to pay for it go for Yoast.
I hear a lot of SEOs liking Rankmath over Yoast.
When in doubt, if you see a site you like you can check what plugins they use in the source code.
Both are good, imho, but with a different approach. Even if both of them are slowly becoming too "fat", with a lot of options, settings, parameters....
I like to keep it simple, but it is true that they can help you avoid wasting time on some stuffs.
Overall, Yoast seems to be more intuitive, Rankmath is fully packed also in free version, so it is up to personal taste and targets...
Yoast SEO Premium is a great solution for WordPress sites but free version is poor.
I use Yoast SEO Premium for my site, I think it's a good solution, I'm in the beginning.
Of course Yoast. But not the free version. Premium version Yoast is ideal for SEO sites
I have used, both as well as other plugins of this type like AIO, Squirrly SEO, SEOPress and Rank Match. What I didn't like about AIO was that when you added 5 add-ons they were all as separate plugins in the plugin list. NIby it doesn't mean anything because they are not osbne plugins, but somehow the eyes hurt.
And my opinion is as follows. The general role of SEO plugins, is exaggerated, it is certainly not some key plugin.
Much also depends on the context of the site. For me, Rank Match works best in the free version. The options of the PRO version are practically useless. But the free version is great.
RankMatch is by far the lightest, Yoast slows down the site much more. (There are tests on the Internet)
A lot depends on what other plugins you use. RankMatch works best with Elementor, Yoast is not bad in this regard either. With multilingual sites also, in my opinion, RankMatch performs best.
I would put Squirrly in second place, but there are too many compatibility issues.
In fact, other issues than SEO plugins are more important. But I think one can be "on board".
