Rebecca Liggero loves meeting new people and traveling – perfect qualities for someone who has won friends and influenced people in the worldwide online gaming community. After graduating from Bates College with a degree in psychology, Rebecca spent four years in Washington, DC, working in relationship management, dreaming all the while about someday making it big in online gaming. After turning down an opportunity to live in New Zealand, she moved back to Boston and signed on as Senior Account Manager for Casino City – the beginning of a dream come true! Rebecca’s work on behalf of Casino City (and later for the GPWA as well) took her to trade shows and conferences everywhere – Amsterdam, Barcelona, Costa Rica, Montreal, London, Las Vegas, Macau and many other ports of call – and along the way she began chronicling her incredible around-the-clock adventures in a wildly entertaining and industry-savvy weekly column that quickly became – and still remains – must reading for everyone who is anyone in online gaming. Following almost three years with the Casino City team, Rebecca spent a few months at Everest Affiliates where she was the Brand Manager of the affiliate program. While working on “the other side,” she realized that she truly missed her weekly column and the affiliate side of the business and decided to return to the Casino City family. One and a half years later, Rebecca resigned from Casino City and joined industry icon Calvin Ayre to serve as the Bodog Global Brand Ambassador and the head on-site reporter for the online gambling industry tablog, CalvinAyre.com. In her new capacity, Rebecca continues to travel the world, and when asked where she is based, her response is usually "on an airplane." Contact Rebecca at rebecca@liggero.net. Be careful, though – she might quote you.More articles by Rebecca Liggero

Costa Rica Bound...Again

So here we go again. I'm going back to Costa Rica on Friday, and I know what you are thinking...What? Are you kidding? Why? Do you ever work? Where's Jenny? Ok, ok, let me cut to the chase and answer all your questions for you.

1)Are you crazy? Wasn't Amsterdam enough?
Hey, this is what happens when all your friends in Boston are married and/or engaged...you have to travel for some fun. It's called exporting yourself. Kidding, kidding. Seriously though, I absolutely love Costa Rica and all my online gaming contacts that live there. Oh yes, and the whore houses too. This time around I am going for fun, on my own dime, and with zero conferences to attend, thank you very much. Of course I'll be with online gaming friends and talking business roughly 90% of the time, but what can you do. C'est la vie.

2)What are you going to do there exactly?
As most of you already know, I have become good friends with a number of my online gaming contacts since I started working for Casino City. There are three people in particular that I am going down to visit in Costa Rica- the infamous Swedes from Poker Host and my affiliate manager at Chip Leader (both GPWA sponsors, might I add). The boys were kind enough to arrange a weekend on the coast for the group, and rumor has it, we have to cross some river to get to this very remote and very special beach house. Yep. I am ready. Not sure if I will return.

3)What do you do for Casino City/GPWA anyway...and can I get a job there? Please?
I know, I know- for some of you it is a mystery. Here is the real story. My title is "Senior Account Manger, Online Casino City". Translation: I manage the online advertising on the Casino City network of sites. With the help of our fabulous IT and content teams (amongst others), I try to send as many players as possible to online gaming sites that have a relationship with us. Also, if you have not already noticed, I dabble with some writing and reporting for both Online Casino City and GPWA. Please note my writing is about the "fun stuff"- not the "real stuff"- meaning, yes, I do actually do some work, yes, I do more than just party, yes, I do travel a lot, but no, Casino City does not send me to all these destinations. I send myself to quite a few of these destinations so I can spend real time with new friends. See? I am a legit employee. I swear.

4)Is Jenny coming with you?
Hells no. I will never make that mistake again...one minute we are enjoying a few innocent tequila shots at the Del Rey and the next minute Gambling 911 has pictures of me ALL OVER THEIR SITE. Um, what? That never happened! Jenny licking my face? Juan? Never seen him in my life. Staged...totally staged.

More questions? Ask me at CAP Spring Break!
