PartyGaming in U.S. gambling crackdown talks

LONDON, England -- As reported by Reuters: "PartyGaming Plc has been in talks with U.S. authorities as it attempts to find out whether it could face prosecution for taking bets in the United States before last year's effective ban on Internet gambling.

"PartyGaming said in a statement it had started talks with the Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York and had been responding to requests for information.

"The firm, which stopped trading in the United States after the law was passed, said it was too early to assess the likelihood of any particular outcome.

"'This has created some uncertainty as to what actions, if any, U.S. law enforcement agencies may take against industry participants, based on activity in the Unites States prior to Oct. 13,' PartyGaming said..."
