EcoCard to drop U.S. market

30 July 2007

EcoCard will stop processing U.S. online gambling transactions starting Aug. 24, according to an email sent by the company to customers Monday.

The financial processor cited recent industry developments as the reason for its withdrawal from the U.S. market.

American customers can continue to conduct transactions, including gambling related transfers, until the suspension date, according to the email.

Non-U.S. customers "are not affected by the change." U.S. customers can continue to use Ecocard for Internet transactions, including person-to-person money transfers and withdrawals, as long as they are not linked to Internet gambling merchants.
