(PRESS RELEASE) -- This week's Right2bet blog is centred on what the casual observer may well class as a regular occurrence in the gambling industry – another E.U licensed commercial operator has found themselves unfairly legislated against, and is taking the matter through the legal system.
This time it's in Italy, where Stanleybet have been denied a license to operate, yet fellow E.U licensed operators – such as the Austrian company Goldbet – have been passed. This also forces the closure of around 20 outlets in the country, which will mean significant job losses in the sector.
The European commission are also featured in this week's blog – having admitted that most of the decisions currently being made in member states are made without any real research into the area of problem gambling, which many governments cite as a reason to restrict the industry to State-run companies.
Of course, the Right2bet betting challenge also continues – although this time it's the French that lost out over their World Cup qualification game, with French State Company Francaise Des Joux offering the smallest odds for an Irish win within the 90 minutes. The difference, as usual, has been added to the charity-bound kitty!
The Right 2 bet site is available in a multitude of languages, and contains all the latest related news from throughout the continent, as well as light hearted comment and features – such as the regular 'Poetry Corner' and the opportunity to mail your M.E.P.
The centrepiece is the petition itself, which is one of the first attempts to invoke the Citizens Initiative detailed in the recently ratified Lisbon Treaty of Europe. This initiative fast-tracks any subject which has been backed by a million signatories from the subjects of EU member states into the debating chambers of the E.U. As the subject of Gambling Deregulation is such a hot topic on the European Mainland right now, we feel it would be fitting for Right2bet to be the first to receive such an honour!
