Paddy Power Poker launches Irish Winter Festival betting market

19 October 2012

DUBLIN, Ireland -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Paddy Power Poker has launched the outright betting market for the upcoming €1,125 buy-in Irish Winter Festival main event, taking place at the Burlington Hotel, Dublin, October 27-29, 2012.

Among the outright favorites to win are two Irishmen who have made European Poker Tour final tables this year – Mick Graydon and Jason Tompkins, both at 66/1.

The former came eighth in Madrid in January and has made five final tables since while the latter just picked up €171,000 for finishing fifth in San Remo.

In the next tier of betting at 80/1 are former Irish Open and Irish Winter Festival main event finalist Thomas Finneran and the ultraconsistent Dara O’Kearney.

Paddy Power, spokesman for the company, said, “Heading the Irish Winter Festival main event betting market this year are two of Ireland’s bright young hopes, both of whom have proven themselves at the top level this year.

“However, anyone who plays in the event can get a price on themselves so their family and friends can have a little flutter. We’ve been taken to the cleaners in this poker market more than once!”

Elsewhere the 10-day Irish Winter Festival Last Chance Saloon promotion continues with 32 seats to the main event still guaranteed over the 10 remaining events, which run until Thursday October 25.

Players who win their Irish Winter Festival seat on will have the added bonus of the Six Survivor promotion, where the six longest-lasting online qualifiers in the IWF live event will win a buy-in to the Irish Open 2013 event, along with any prize money they might pick up.

The Irish Winter Festival takes place over the October bank holiday weekend (October 26-29, 2012) in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin.
