Yggdrasil enters Swedish regulated gaming market with lottery games deal

26 August 2014

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Full-service games provider Yggdrasil Gaming has entered the Swedish regulated gaming market via a collaborative project with Svenska Klubbspel AB – the joint venture between media partner Metro and casino operator Cherry– to deliver bespoke lottery gaming products to support a number of Swedish beneficiaries and the non-profit Sports Alliance.

‘Klubblo’ is the Sports Alliance’s own lottery and will potentially benefit the 20,000 plus sports clubs and 70 special sports federations that are members of the Swedish Sports Confederation.

Yggdrasil will provide a number of its innovative games and will enable clubs to customise and brand their own lottery games to capitalise on the strength of their own brands and fan bases. The full commercial launch is expected for Q4 2014.

Fredrik Elmqvist, CEO of Yggdrasil Gaming, commented: “Klubblo is a particularly exciting project for Yggdrasil, being our first step into both the world of the World Lotteries Association and the regulated Swedish market.

“We have been working on this since autumn last year and we’re delighted to now see these games live for the Swedish Sports Alliance and Klubblo.

“It has certainly been a real challenge. We have had to be very innovative in the way we have developed the lottery games to fulfil the requirements of the regulator, but also make the games exciting for the players.”

Lasse Dilschmann, CEO of Klubblo, said: “Yggdrasil have some fantastic experience in the gaming industry, particularly in the fast-moving slots market, as well as the lottery segment.

“They have a unique approach and they were the obvious choice to deliver something truly conceptual and innovative for Klubblo.”

Yggdrasil’s portfolio contains a wide range of popular casino games, including its latest fantasy world themed game Magic Mushrooms, with a unique reels draw sequence, and the high-roller video slots Jokerizer and Winterberries, the much promoted high-paced video slot Fruitoids as well as Lotto7, a unique daily lottery draw where players play for a progressive €2.5 million prize.

Yggdrasil, which has offices in Malta, Poland and most recently a new sales office in Gibraltar, has signed a number of agreements this year with a host of household names in gaming, including Mr Green, LeoVegas, Videoslots.com, Vera&John, Cherry Online Gaming, CO-Gaming (ComeOn!) and Unibet.
