Default Bounce rate and stay on page affect on keyword ranking

    Hey,
keyword ranking, bounce rate and stay-on-page

#1 I have a casino focused website. I know competition is high. Bounce rate is +70%, stay-on-page about 1.30 min
keyword ranking, difficult, taking forever. As affiliate it is not always bad if people bounce, right... it could mean a conversion. But I am thinking with a better website perhaps the bounce will drop to 50% and stay on page 2.30 min. this will affect keyword ranking, right? but does anybody have a clue the relationship between bounce rate, stay-on-page and keyword ranking...

and it be great to hear from you who have casino focused website what your bounce rate and stay on page are...

    Thanks!

Casino is precise... they are looking for something particular, if someone comes in on keyword news then expect pageviews.. most of the junkiest sites have the highest page views and vice versa.. the idea is to give your reader what they are searching for.

Take a flick at googles search quality rating guidelines, every year that passes it get's more biased (Rightly so) towards content that actually serves the user query.

A low time on page with a high bounce rate is going to be a pretty good indicator that your users aren't satisfied with the experience your page is serving them relevant to the query they entered.

    Decent article on this here:

my sites have low time and high bounce yet google keeps giving me more and more traffic with better positions.. if i was writing a guide type website then perhaps page views would be an advantage, there is no one set template for sites.. if you are doing a table game tips site then you would probably want to show them something else, but the biggest indicator of a good site is that reader found what he or she was looking for.. could be a review then click out to said website.. job done result achieved... what's even better is when people return to our site or consistently choose our site from the selected search results even if it is just to read one page.

This long time on site and low bounce has been an old wives tale amongts SEO's for many years

I never said there was a one size fits all approach - again, I would think your point on it depending on the topic of the LP was obvious which is why I didn't mention it...

That said - will agree to disagree on your last point regarding time on page being an 'old wives tale'.
