Our stunning beaches closed due to the horrid C19

Good day to all my fellow men & women

I have a need to vent some sadness, so I thought the best place to do so is with a community of like minded people and my friends.

As we all know, the 2nd wave of C19 has hit the world, it has now become our time in S.A with our leaders deciding to close all areas that assist in gathering or overcrowding.
One of these are our out of this world beaches which we are so dearly grateful for and have become intertwined with in our life.

What I don't understand, in this instance is why the beaches - the one place on Earth that is actually very well ventilated, good for your sole and does not promote close encounters of the person next to you.
What is worse, its happening over our summer, year end school break whereby our kids get to enjoy the splendid nature that engulfs us during this time year. Vitamin D by the bucket loads and fond memories created for our kids to file away and re-live later in life.

So sad yet I ponder weather its a necessary evil. Do feel rather heart broken to all our local tourists who come to engulf this spectacle of sand, sea and sunsets where it lacks in the concrete cities they work hard in throughout the year.
I am having a hard time wrapping my head around this.

That all being said, I do feel slightly better, pangs me that I look out my window to see the endless ocean and cant even dunk a toe in it. hmmm.

I am travelling a lot during last year. Experiences from many countries. Europe was ok during summer, but no more. Latam is total madness now, people ignore the rules en masse, but you never know when you hit an upset policeman.

But in short I have one recommendation for everyone who wants to see the world as it was. Go to Brazil. No PCR bullshit, all you need is de facto any insurance. Facemasks are defacto voluntary in the country. Prices dropped to nothing, especially hotels. The country is otherwise as it was before, so nothing spectacular, but there is freedom now. Domestic flights no restrictions at all. Just stay healthy, do exercise, avoid people in crowded areas and you shoud be ok there and feeling alive.

I am so sorry to heard this. I am not sure how I would cope without walking by the beach. You have a couple of children, so I can imagine how crazy things must get.

I hear many people saying that they won’t get the vaccine. Are you guys planning on getting it?

Being our high season and summer time si the hardest for our kids.
its there happy and rejuvenating place where freedom and life skills can be learnt all day without stress and lots of laughter.

We have been informed that the vaccine will only be brought into S.A. once further data has been provided and solid tests have been conducted.
The word on the street is this would happen late February.

Its very sad Jay and I have a bunch of unhappy relatives who had planned a family reunion in Knysna - some have literally just arrived and now booking flights back to Joburg, Dubai, Durban etc.

Jay, I'm sorry to hear about your trouble. I really am. The covid virus has ruined a lot of things for everyone globally. It's a horrendous and obnoxious illness. They have to create a proper vaccine or else these sorts of restrictions will unfortunately continue. I feel your pain and I know it's extremely annoying to not be able to even just go for a swim or even get close enough to be able to just touch the water. I try to take comfort in the smallest things that life has to offer and to make the most out of all the time that I have. I don't see any other way around it. I hope my advice gives you some comfort.

I absolultely sympathise with you. Without the beach I can't imagine my life. But I also see the other side of the coin. If everyone followed the simple rules around physical distancing and mask wearing etc, we would probably be out of this sooner than later.

Look at all those places in europe that let the tourists and everyone open up roam free during summer, they are now having massive second waves even larger than their first. It may be hard to grasp, but perhaps noone is following rules there so they feel that this is the best way to prevent wide spread, untraceable outbreaks.

Perhaps they could look at us and see what we did for our beaches to allow them to stay open. There are police manning, turning people away if they are full. Everyone has to have a towel between each other. Our beaches were closed for many months and there were a few individuals who broke those rules and got fined etc.. but most people follow the rules here and it has worked in our favour.

I struggled this year because my entire life got cancelled, and I was just living to work which I said I'd never do. My best advice would be to be grateful for the small things you have because right now those are big things. For example, some people have lost their family to this disease and will spend the holidays without them. I was not able to see my family for almost 6 months because we live in different cities. I haven't seen my boyfriend since February because he lives in a different country. One thing I am definitely grateful for is facetime, and noone can take that away. Enjoy time with your family regardless of what you'll be doing.

The world has been destroyed/changed beyond repair, so there will be no normality for the 1st world. It is not a problem of corona, but of the snowflake society. The trigger could have been anything.

Yes, I will get the vaccine ASAP, so maybe in 2023, because I am young and I have no insurance in countries where I am staying, so I will be the last one who might get it I guess. I would not take it probably otherwise, because I do not feel threatened by corona that much (especially after I had it 3x already) and because there is just a temporary immunity most likely.

I will not get the vaccine if I do not get significant benefits for crossing borders, going to pool/sauna etc.

You mentioned you got COVID-19 3 times already? Wow I am so pleased you recovered from it.

It has been incredible to see how much all of our lives have been changed by this virus. I am not young, but I also think here is Cyprus I will be one of the last getting vaccinated.

In the meantime, I am taking vitamin D & C, wearing my mask and living my life the best way I can.

I'm seeing alot of fallout from covid and i think its important to be grateful of what we have. I have friends who have lost jobs and have no savings trying to do anything they can to feed their families. Whoever put this virus out there needs locking up for mass genecide but that seems to be the one subject that the media arent bothering with.

1st time for me it was the long Covid from Jan to March and I could not breathe at all. But every time I get it, it is better, granted.

I do not wear facemask excessively, but at crowded spaces with a lot of corona positives or on airplanes I have respirators. But I am not too much sucessful to avoid the virus

I am doing exercise every day. I do not know what pisses me more: people who are hiding for months and want me to do the same or people who are spreading some Bill Gates bullshit and say corona is a hoax or totally incompetent politicians or people who think that the "corona thing" will be solved by vaccine. Probably really the last: the people who still have some hope in something something that will flip us back to pre-2019. What we have now is the new normal. Try to live with that or change it, if you do not like it. Life goes on. It is possible to travel. It is possible to go out to beaches or mountains. No one from us needs more than laptop to work. Yes, maybe all people from this forum will get corona. Maybe some will die. My uncle for example is battling for weeks for life. Vast majority will survive (at least physically). It is not the end of world.

Hey Sherlock, I am very sorry about your uncle; I hope he manages to beat the virus.

The way I see it, we are not going back to the future like Marty Mcfly. We just have to try to live our best lives and appreciate our love ones. Try to keep healthy and if you are unfortunate to get the virus ( I think we will all get it at some point), just deal with it the best way possible and hope to come out ok from it.
