Promoting our website via Social Media

Hi Guys,

I'm really newbie on this, so I would appreciate your patience and I apologies ahead if this info is already in the forum.

Me and other 2 Co-founders founded a new website in the online sports betting industry. currently it's front-end completed, and now we are integrating with some of the big operators in an Affiliation mode. there's a possibility of a more deep partnership with one of the operators, but currently it's discussed.

Anyway, we're trying to concentrate on our marketing plan, and decided to focus all our resources on SMO - Facebook, Instegram & Twitter.

We're seeking for information for newbies - can you advise if there are people who already offer this kind of service (managing campaigns) ? what would be the cost of it?

Or maybe the alternative to study this by our own is better?

Our budget is quite low ~15K$

Can you please help us find either companies that can provide us with this service, or an information for learning this field by ourselves?

Is 15K your marketing budget?

I'm sure there are companies out there who do this sort of thing, but finding someone with the required experience of the industry is tough I would imagine. The best of those guys are out there doing it for themselves.

I think whoever is producing the content for the site should also be managing the social media accounts, at least when starting out. They are the people most likely to be in tune with the personality of your brand and website, as well as your audience.

My take on the various social media channels would be as follows;

Facebook - great way to direct people to your website, but you can't put specific betting related content on there as it's against the terms of agreement. The page should be fun and engaging, if you want to see how it's done well then check out the Paddy Power Facebook page. Maybe some of your 15K would be well spent on promoting your page through Facebook advertising.

Twitter - here you can build a following and also direct people to your site. Betting content and direct links to same seem to be OK here.

Instagram - I'm not that familiar with Instagram but from what i understand it's all about uploading photos and adding a filter so it looks nicer and gets more likes. I could well be missing something but I don't see how it can be of much use when it comes to engaging with your audience, and getting conversions.

Snapchat is worth a mention here - again I'm not massively familiar with it but I intend on getting to know it better, as this seems to be where everything is headed. One of the upsides of people being addicted to Facebook is that it makes people read more. Reading is good. But it seems reading isn't doing it for people these days, they need emojis, pictures and video to get the full immersive experience - and snapchat has this well cornered. Instead of posting status updates in text form, people now get to star in their own little 30 second movies every day on snapchat. Check out all the big sports brands and you'll see their snapchat profiles getting a serious push.

Note I'm no expert, this is all just my take on social media.

As I see the things (correct me if I'm wrong):

1. SEO is much more expensive
2. As online sports betting turns, SMM is the best channel to get traffic.

You're right to focus on SMM.

I see Twitter as the best tool and you can build a loyal following if you know how and if you have a clear plan. On top of that, there are paid ads, but having an employee who takes care of Twitter promotion delivers a superior ROI, in my opinion.

But it depends on how you're doing business really. If it was me I'd go white hat and build real Twitter following the honest way - it can be done.

Yes RappiN, SEO is more expansive than SMM and SEO is also a long process. I would like to suggest to start with SMM.

Just brand building really. Loads of businesses use it - you can have a clickable URL on your profile page. Everyone just writes 'link in the bio'. Seems to do the job!

All of these marketing channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) can be used not only as SMM, but also like content marketing units. Provide people with relevant information concerning variety of gambling tips and news. Also let them know about the bonuses, games and other opportunities available.

I use SMM but I have a lot more concern with SEO.

When people want something they go on google to search, not on Facebook.

From my experience social media will get the most clicks, albeit most are worthless.

I don't know whether this is relevant, but when i get an automated message after following someone back on Twitter it gets me mad. I say this has i believe it's good to profile followers, and act accordingly.

Retention rate from Social media-2-site will only be good if you have ''sticky content''. Their are many who have tens of thousands on Social media, but struggle to get them to the site!!

We find when we give away something for free, we get masses of interest. However, whether such people are useful long term is open to conjecture. While site loyalty must be earned, i'm afraid you will find the mass of people to be freeloaders!

Well if you have $15K marketing budget you can beat any of brand companies. Why are you looking for individual go for marketing company.

Some my suggestion to promote sites via social network:
- publish trend contents on social networks and use hashtags to classify these contents. It allows you access to your target audiences
- increase to follow people in your niches. They can follow you back
- repost good content of others on your social networks
- Use social network ads.

15k is quite a decent budget for Social media, I figure that it is better to start from Facebook as you can get there tonns of traffic, and even it can convert well, but make sure you are coming with a good bonus, FS etc. offers...

SMM is good for promoting your site among people because today there are lots of people active on social media. But according to my opinion, you should also go with Onpage and Off page SEO that will also helpful for your site.
