Default X-Twitter fined in Italy for violation of gambling advertising regulations

X, previously known as Twitter, is the most recent social media platform to incur fines in Italy for violating the gambling advertising ban.

Italy's Autorità per le Garanzie nelle Comunicazioni (Agcom) has levied a fine of €1.35m against Twitter International Unlimited Company, the owner of X. The violation stems from X's breach of the 2019 "dignity decree," which prohibits the promotion of games or betting through advertising, sponsorship, or communication channels.

    From Jamma.tv:

The Authority would have contested the lack of 'human' control with respect to the ban introduced in 2028 with the Dignity Decree. The profiles from which the complaints would have a blue tick, which means having a account with an active subscription to X Premium, a service the company provides with a 72-hour verification of eligibility criteria. A procedure of this kind, according to Agcom, cannot be carried out without human control and this means that X could not have failed to know.

The penalty is resulting from the same dispute which also involves the YouTube platform and for which a fine of 450.000 euros was contested against Google Ireland.

Pocket change for a company like this.
The article mentions a ban introduced in 2028? Is it me or is this article very difficult to read?

Just a typo by the looks of it, should be 2018 I think.

I don't think it's hard to read, but it does seem too brief, at least for my taste, almost as if it had been written in a hurry. It feels more like a notification than a complete news piece or blog article.

This investigation and penalty seem odd to me, both in terms of the amount of the penalty and the claim that X could not have not known.

    DIGNITY DECREE ?
    DIGNITY ?

Gambling breeches "dignity" ?? WTF ?

Every year the political newspeak sounds more and more like "Big Brother" from George Orwell's 1984 novel.
