This is exactly the case. Also in this case Betsson just care about their own money. Not about your and my money.

I actually think it makes sense. I mean he probabaly assumed that "his" affiliate commission will be lost between all the other affiliates. I think if he wasn't greedy and a bit more lucky, he could've continue pulling small amounts for years without getting caught.

It is usually arrogance and the hungy for the big money, I guess. Indeed, if he would have gone for smaller amounts instead of the bigger players, it would have been more difficult to catch him.

If I high roller suddenly stops playing, you'll notice if. If some player who puts monthly a few bucks stops playing, you won't even notice it.

A big thank you to Otto who brought this case to my attention with a very good article (http://www.cassaon-casino.com/blog/g...iate-programs/)

Otto is a member of the absolutely minority of this industry, people who show backbone and are not acting like a toady.

I received more than one decree muzzling freedom of speech in the last years and a few attempts.
This is a disservice, because in the long run I was right every time and yesterday, today and tomorrow a lot of criminals are at the offices, at the top of programs, casinos and casino software, yes even convicted jailbirds and so ... for this indudstry ... as we say in Germany: "The bloom is off the rose."

You should not be surprised with this case. Since years your private data will be shared and sold on these glamorous conferences. Nearly no independent people exist. For example: Most of these "player helping" portals are nothing but clever marketing strategy. They play a little bit the "white knight", but in reality only the prepaid money that programs pay them is important. It's all an illusion. It's so easy to debunk this industry. I have never thought that it's so easy. Really not.

Look to the last 8 sponsors here. Low quality in most cases. Quotas, obviously idiots in the office and only a big mouth with the wallet and souled with the believe, a GPWA sponsorship is a free ticket for everything. Only a few of new sponsors are really worth the name. The good new way six months ago is gone. A broken arrow.

Playing love, peace and harmony in forums like here is absolute nonsense but it will done since years.
So many things had covered up and hushed up. The trust has fallen, and my old song, that outstanding people don't see any difference between drugs, prostitution and gaming industry and this not without reason is louder than ever.

The simple truth is, that hundreds of thousands of $ were stolen from affiliates the last decade with different techniques. Affiliates are outlawed. There is no one who controls this. It's all a Fata Morgana, and affiliates are just toys for most programs. Some programs and casinos will be controlled by criminals and jailbirds.

So you are really surprised to read this topic?

My believe tendency more and more swings to "It's more the rule than the exception".

    Not really related to AvD, or maybe it is in a way, but to show you some more about Betsson;

xxhttp://www.casino.nl is a domain owned by this group. It earlier was a Kroon/Oranje casino domain.
After suspending the private membership, the website did not take off the GPWA seal.
Instead it is now misleading customers by linking it to a page on archive.org.

Misleading they were already anyway, by stating they are an independant casino comparator.
But they managed to bring to a new level.
my main websites are top-casino.nl, which is for all casino games, freespins.fun is a Dutch site for free spins.

Any news about the suspect? Who follows a Malta newspaper in this matter?

I know one MGS AM did re-tag players to their own portals ran under different name. They were caught and they group do go after them.

There is a couple other MGS groups I suspect of re-tagging. It always makes you wonder why a group can never keep a decent player in your account especially when you know they are doing everything possible to keep a high roller playing.

That self remove is something we hear all to often. I would actually think is very rare as if they are serious about quitting they just quit.

Couldn't he have just tagged "non assigned" players to himself? Just a thought out there.

Players are either tagged to an affiliate or to the casino/sportsbook. Betsson are saying he only re-tagged non-affiliate accounts.

Nope, it's quite common. Though they don't quit, just close their account, are off a while and then join another casino. And repeat until they are serious and broke enough to quit completely. This btw. is most of the "big players".

Long time reader, first time poster.

I'm from Australia and the affiliate industry in the gaming sector is becoming extremely dodgy and untrustworthy.

I know an ex-affiliate manager who I met at a business function (won't name the company) who told me that they use to always remove players (at the companies request) from affiliates and swap them with an inactive account so that the numbers still stayed the same from the affiliates log in portal.

He also said that they would ring the big players and offer them a 10-15% monthly rebate on losing months (as if the player was their own affiliate), but in order to offer them this, they would need to set up a new account, which would then mean they would be inactive on the affiliates account.

He no longer works there but said that it was the dodgiest environment and basically the only affiliates who will make good money are two types:

Type 1 - Extremely high traffic websites, which bring in over 100 first time players per month - They get a guaranteed tenancy payment on top of their revenue, so they can rest easy at night. (They still probably get stitched up on the revenue).

Type 2 - VIP affiliates who personally introduce big players to the program. Affiliate Managers know they can remove the players as the VIP affiliate has a strong personal relationship with the player.

If you doing small numbers then expect to get shafted big time!

He also said that 1 affiliate requested to do an audit on them as he believed they were ripping him off. Even though it said in the T&C that an affiliate has the right to an audit, The company didn't like that and cancelled his affiliate account due to being inactive for 3 months as per the T&C.

It's a no win situation for us unfortunately!
Great post, pretty much sums it up for me.

There can also be collusion with someone who does have access to the back end data. FYI, btw, the data(base) is the "back end" and the software UI is the "front end."

Yeah, it's better to charge 95% admin fees. Has more effect than re-tragging some players from time to time.
