Full stop at the end of Keyword- does it count as keyword?

Hi, does having a full stop at the end of your keyword still make the keyword count

For example, if I had World Cup Football and World Cup Football.

Would the 2nd one with the full stop still count 'World Cup Football' as a keyword?

I have been trying to review keyword density and it doesn't seem to pick the 2nd three word phrase up when I have a full stop at the end?

Your help is greatly appreciated

This is only my opinion, but maybe the tool you're using to check kw density is less sophisticated than Google's software?
I would be surprised if Google gave less relevance to anchor text because of punctuation - it wouldn't make much sense.

It seems like the tools is either a little out of date or is not as sophisticated (as mentioned above).

I would say that with the full stop the keyword will still count. The . should be irrelevant.

It counts, trust me.

Search engine algorithms have some of the worlds most advanced semantic technology, I'm sure basic data analyzing like this was one of the first things they did!

No, there is no problem of using a full stop at the end. It doesn't considered as two different keywords in any search engine.

I don't believe the full stop at the end makes the slightest bit of difference. If it's right to put it there, then put it in - the search engines are way more advanced that that.

I also think that it doesn't matter if there is a full stop at the end of the keyword. dashes, spaces, full stops, comma, all these are just text separators and search engines are definitely smart enough to parse them.

A full stop makes no difference at all, Google doesn't even read them.

Having read tons of articles on that, I've never seen Google reading full stops so you don't have to worry about it. But I tend to avoid full stops.

Google doesnt look at a keyword with a full stop at the end of it as a separate keyword. Google knowns what your looking for an will still deliver you the correct listings for that keyword.
