Default Will Brexit or Texit have the most effect?

I admit that so far Brexit has not had too much of an effect on me personally yet, but that could change.

What I am wondering about even more is Texit, which may or may take place depending on the outcome of the US Elections.

I must also admit I did not coin the term, but it was mentioned to me in a recent conversation with a Texan when I asked what the outcome might be if the current Democratic prospective nominee would happen to win later this year.

I never heard of Textit until I read this thread. That's ridiculous. Can a state really do that?

Texans are very independent and proud of their state. The Texas flag is the only flag of an American State that has served as a flag of a independent country. Because of that, Texas is the only state with the right to raise its flag to the same height as the U.S. Even though the travel motto is: "Texas, it's like a whole other country". I don't foresee us actually leaving the U.S. (of course, plenty thought that about the Brexit...lol).

I don't see Texas (or any US state) ever being given the right for self determination.

The US federal budget (especially it's war machine) could not function without the major population / financial bases ..
And any discussion of potential exit of states would crash US federal credit rating and probably cause defaults.

The United States of America is technically bankrupt by ANY measure - and only it's reputation of never defaulting keeps the money flowing.
The US is far less free than the rest of Western democracies when it comes to political organisation.

I doubt a world power will shown sign of weakness by allowing one of its states to leave.
