Shouldn't that slot be the one to avoid? So many people thinking a random machine is 'due' to pay. After 20 years they should get the hint.

I tend to lean toward the fact that every dime put in without a payout lowers the house edge.

Seriously, something is not quite right here. I'm guessing there is something wrong with the machine. 20 years with no payout ?

It's a progressive through, right? So in theory the longer it goes without a win the more likely it is to be +EV (ie: if the value of the jackpot exceeds the odds of winning it).

But dang son - 20 years?

Sounds crazy, great marketing tool though.
Curious to see how many years it will keep attracting players without paying

So that's the machine I need to look out for in vegas then?

It's called "Gambler drip-feed", a very fertile way of parting gamblers from their money.

If it has not paid out in 20 years it is either not played very often ($2m jackpot?) or is a really unlucky machine (or faulty)

That machine is not only played often, but I have read a few articles about people waiting in line for it. Also slots hosts and most customer service people are asked frequently by guests where the machine is.

Renee, I am not sure if I will go to Vegas in the fall, but if I do I'd be happy to share a play session (as well as the jackpot) on the slot with you.

Surely if it's played often over 20 years then it should of accumulated a larger jackpot of $2m? having said that, with it's age it may be $0.10 per spin
