Is allowed "sport, betting and casino affiliate ads" on regular website 2018.?

First of all Hello everyone.
I'm new to this site. All compliments on useful content and information.
I have a few questions and sorry if it already answered somewhere, but I could not find it.
I have several websites and they not focused on betting. On one of them I would like to put a betting affiliate link or banner.
I watched a few affiliate websites: bet365.com, 888.com, bet-at-home.com, betwaypartners.com etc. I really did not deal with this in the past, and all of this is still unknown to me. These are the biggest ones I managed to find just by google.

The first question is: if I set up such a link or banner, is there a chance that some country will prosecute me block me or something, is it illegal, for example in the United States or the United Kingdom etc.? My server is in Europe.

The second question is: is it worth the effort?
That particular website visitor statistics by country:
1. United Kingdom
2. India
3. United States
4. Australia
5. Canada

No need to post your stats as it really is not pertinent to the question of whether it is allowed.

As for whether it is worth it, depends partially on your audience. If your visitors are browsing your site to research or purchase widgets, they are most likely more interested in content and advertising for widgets or products that would be a nice add-on to the widget purchase.

It is still possible they might see an ad for a bookie and be responsive, so the decision as to test the ads there are up to you.

As for the legal question, you will get plenty of opinions, but if it is a concern to you based on your country of residence you should ask a certified lawyer. Since the UK is part of your target audience, you may want to study some of the issues and discussions on the posting of advertising for operators such as Bet 365 and how they want them compliant to their interpretation of the UKGC rules.

Thank you for your reply.
But I really do not know how this whole situation with "Affiliate Programs" is not crystal clear in 2018. Why is there no clear guidance on what can and what is not. Who have a time to find that ONE lawyer who knows that area.

Well there are hundreds of discussions here at the GPWA concerning legalities etc of advertising, so if you read enough of them you should be able to make your own decisions on the direction to go.

Direct legal advice however, should only ever come from a lawyer.

AU is very difficult to find a program.
UK is ok but take a regulated program and pay attention to what you have to add on your site (18+, gambling anonymous).

Just sign up at 1 or 2 better known programs that offer websites in the language of your visitors, put a few banner on your site and see what happens.

No need to spend days on this if you don't get a signup after 1 month.

Thank you for your answer. But I think I'll give up on this idea "sport, betting and casino affiliate ads" on regular website" (too hard and takes time).
The website I have has a daily 20000 - 25000 Pageviews I'll try to test some no betting affiliate or network ads just for fun.

Try to try with searching for gambling regulation. Searching like "Online gambling in UK" (for example) will show you relevant information about gambling regulation. In most of the jurisdictions you are interesed in both gambling and online gambling are legal and regulated (but check Australia). Keep in mind that some types of gambling could be prohibited.
You can also send a letter to a regulator. In UK, for exampe, it is Gambling Commission. Describe them your situation and they will give you a detailed response in a week.
