Account closure @ Betsson

Dear all,


Been working with casino's for a while now and worked with betsson for at least a couple of years and registered there with casino-euro.nl. A Dutch casino portal/website.


But 2 weeks ago they send me a mail, out of the blue, about that they are gonna close my affiliate account (effective immediately). Because of a serious 'copyright infringement'. They mean the use of casino-euro.nl.


I tried to logon but with no luck they really kicked me out. And this for the second time, the other one was for unknown reason?!?!


I emailed Betsson and tried to explain that i registered with that url and that some affiliate manager from there side accepted me as a affiliate, and then after a while when i started to bring people in and started to earn money for them and off course myself they send me the message that they kicked me out.


They never responded to my email, and i did send a second email that they should be ashamed. But as expected they didn't respond to that email as well.


So i share my experience on site's like these so that people can be warned for company like Betsson. I also lost my rev share for that month (it was not much), but its about the principle.

Thank you for sharing your story. Betsson has closed many affiliate accounts over the years and has been dumped by many affiliates as well. It's not the most affiliate friendly program out there.

Unless I'm seeing what others aren't, your website name Casino-Euro.nl is very close to their brand CasinoEuro.com, so in terms of copyright and intellectual property rights you may be in breach of their terms. You may also have an issue if they have registered it as a trade mark, they may insist that you give them your URL.

If on the other hand you have it in writing from the Affiliate manager that opened your account that it was OK then I think you have a good chance of making a good argument for opening your account, but seeing how this bunch have behaved in the past I wouldn't hold your breath.

Personally I'd check what the legal situation is with your URL, I'd be more worried about that than the account being closed.

Casino-Euro is close to Casino Euro, but Betsson does not own the rights of the words Casino and Euro. Euro and Casino are such general terms, that the rights to use this words cannot be owned exclusively by Betsson.

Putting in good arguments and discussing with Betsson makes no sense. They just do not react and do what they want. You can send 10.000 mails, this crooks won't react.

What you can do is remove them from your website and/or start a legal proceed against them if you feel it's worth the money. That's all. Mailing them calling them, posting threads on forums, doesn't make sense. They just don't give a ****.

Your right for the words on their own, but used in the same combination with a dash separating them, i don't know. I think Betsson could make a compelling case and cause the OP a lot of grief if they wanted. My advice, suck it up, remove them from your site, move on and hope they don't come after you for your URL.

Exactly. That is what I try to do. 5 minutes of research is enough to see that programs like Betsson, Winner, Buffalo are not worth working with.

it seems that Betsson does not need small and medium affiliates that much anymore. They have grown so much in other channels and since then, They have introduced several rogue affiliate TC's which would make any decent affiliate to stay away from them.

They closed my active affiliate account 2 years ago telling me that I don't send enough traffic no more. I still sent a few clicks before they closed my account. They simply kept all my players. In the years before I made them 6 digits in winnings, easily more than 100.000 Euros . It still get angry when I think of them. I didn't send a lot of traffic to my other partners in the last 2 years. Still existing players made thousands of dollars since. 1000s each program.
I am pretty sure that I made 1000s of Euros but betsson just kept it.
I was looking for affiliate lounge at GPWA to post this issue but it seems like that they don't sponsor no more.

The problem with Betsson Affiliates is that these days it is run by Maltese, and not Swedes. They will try everything not to pay. I often go drinking with a Betsson guy, he tells me some real horror stories.

I also had my account closed a long time ago, due to inactivity I guess. Though I did have some players.

I was in touch with these guys, willing to give them a second chance after LAC, and the best I could get is a personal guarantee my account won't be closed if I sign up again.
