Favorite Video Game - old school

[allfreechips]

After playing Robotron 2084 on my arcade I was thinking what are your old school favorites?

Some Turbo Graphix games are good on the arcade as well Dragons' Lair laserdisk

Lemmings was an awesome game that I used to play when I was a child. It really does get you thinking very hard, as the levels progress and become increasingly more difficult.

Space Invaders.

Not entirely sure if it counts as old school, but for me its "Heroes of Might and Magic III" all the way. Still playing it with buddies from time to time.

This thread reminds me that I saw that the old ZX Spectrum has been brought back to life recently with 48 old school games included in the bundle: https://retrogames.biz/products/thespectrum/ - it's even got Manic Miner in there!!

Lemmings is a good one! I forgot about playing on the apple IIe ! back when Zork was a ton of fun as well.

I loved Super Mario Bros and Donkey Kong. I like the newer versions, but I still prefer the old ones.

Tank 1990 - Nintendo NES system

[ddrigby]

PACMAN especially after you remembered the pattern and could play for hours

Once you get hooked on Street Fighter, you won't feel the need to play any other games.

OK Super Mario Bros was a game changer for sure

Double Dragon. that pure 80s feel

[hatario]

Chrono Trigger. Or maybe Earthbound.

I love Nintendo. The games that I have played the most are Mother2 and Super Mario RPG. Both are Super Nintendo games, but I still play them now and then (I'm glad I can play them on the Nintendo Switch!)

howdy everyone,
For me it was TES: Morrowind - amazing story

[wetelo]

Gotta say Heroes of Might and Magic IV will always have a special place for me — the mechanics, the vibe, everything. Also had a soft spot for The Hobbit game from the early 2000s. Played both way too much as a kid

F-19 Stealth Fighter.

Permadeath game, no second chances, you got to have that perfect mission to get the medal.

This often means shooting down the chasing MiGs with your last few cannon rounds, or running away because you have none left, landing with half of your plane broken, etc.

And landings are difficult to begin with.

I also played Civilization a lot, Mortal Kombat, Might & Magic III, Detroit, Sim City, Elite, UFO: Enemy Unknown, Reunion.

Games were so cool back then. Nowadays, every game is the same. Realistic, open-world, kill something.

I remember playing a lot of Leisure Suit Larry, Doom, and Shining Force, but I think the very first "video game" I may have ever played was Oregon Trail in elementary school. And coincidentally enough, I was just volunteering in my son's class the other day and they were all learning how to play Oregon Trail (the original version) on their chromebooks. Great games never die!

Your party is dead,.., forgot about Oregon trail!
