Default Geotargeting that works with cache?

    Hi guys,

Been using geotargetingwp pro and their "click" based plan together with WP Rocket pro cache plugin. Supposedly they are supposed to be compatible which they have been on and off for me. Recently, however, geotargeting has stopped working with cache and I need to flush cache for geotargeting to start working again but it only takes around 20 minutes then geotargeting stops working again with cache activated.

The developer of the plugin has NOT managed to solve the problem and claims no one else has ever reported similar problems. If the developer even doesn't know how to fix it, I certainly won't be able to and I depend on geotargeting a lot.

I have had to deactivate cache for now which obviously has its downsides. For one, with the "click" based plan I will now quickly run out of clicks and obviously, a site without cache is not optimal.

Does anyone else here have experience with said plugins? Or do you have other solutions/suggestions I could try?

    Thank you

Take a thorough look at this link (you can also download the plugin from here): https://www.iplocationtools.com

Also, this is another good website for you:

    Hi,

I had a quick look and from what I could tell it's a geo lookup service and not actually a plugin to help you show specific content depending on the visitors geolocation?

The above sites do help to some extent, but this site should be more suited to what you’re looking for:

    https://www.wpexplorer.com/Wordpress...eting-plugins/

You can choose to ‘view the demo’ or ‘learn more & download’ for the geo plugins

I appreciate your help but it's not really answering my question unfortunately. I would like to here from my fellow affiliates if they use geotargeting and if they got it to work with cache activated

There are solutions but perfect one is to program it.

I use geo through cloudflare and Custom content by country plugin.
In terms of wpfastest cache i had to disable the cashing on the few pages i geo.

Personally I don't think there is a perfect solution for GEO Targeting as long as your using caching. You have to make a compromise somewhere along the line.
Either you switch off caching for the pages where you're using GEO Targeting or accept that incorrect content may be displayed to the next visitor to that page.
The other issue i found was some Wordpress plugins use caching as well. So you have to switch that off as well (assuming it has the facility to do so).

As others have said, it may be easier to develop your own solution to serve geo targeted pages.

There is but not a simple one. You can either cache the page except the geotargetted script (like the table for instanse). That's the easier solution.

Another option so geo-caching - meaning you cache the page for each geo you wish. Basically means that each page is cached in multiple versions.

I haven't programmed custom solution from start, but in any case this thing is not simple - not just in terms of setting but also in terms of keeping it working properly. Somehow every few months i have some issue - some update in WP or with some non related plugin and so on. That's not a big deal but just it takes me time to notice it.

Geotargetting and cache don't mix well...

As the others have said you need to exclude the geo bits from the cache somehow, either by serving it new to each user or having multiple versions (either cached for the same URL or on different URLs - eg: yoursite.com/uk/ - and redirecting to a totally custom page).

Or just get a decent server and exclude the geo pages from the cache entirely (if you're not comfortable with doing it on a granular level).

Other thing you could do is have the tables (or whatever) loaded via ajax. That way the whole page could be cached and the tables would be loaded separately. Bit more advanced though (and often causes a crappy user experience if it's slow to load).

I run GeotargetingWP ... actually, they advertise that they work WITH caching while using "Ajax Mode" but that **** and you wait pretty long to load the GEO responsive content. The GEO function is crucial for conversions for me on that particular site and I decided to shut off every type of caching. No plugin like WP Rocket or W3TC or something else. Also, no Cloudflare or any server caching like Varnish.

With some optimizations, I have the fully GEO responsiveness AND a fast load time.

    Pingdom fully loaded

Not the cream de la cream but for a site who target US and Asien traffic is it a good compromise for me.

I'm also going with a custom solution for this, seen quite a few sites implement it poorly. If a visitor is less say from France which is restricted by a lot of online casinos, then it is pointless showing them casinos which won't accept players from that country. The plugin I'm having made will show different casinos to different visitors depending on which country they are in and which casinos accept players from that country, same with some of the content and offers which can vary between UK and EU. The site once I have finished will be fully geotargeted with lots of custom options.

Let us know when the plug-in is complete, I might be interested in it and possibly a few of us together could help cover the development costs you incur.

Im also in the middle of developing my own custom geo-targeting solution which would show content / casinos based on the visitor location
I dont have any great experience creating worpress plugins however , maybe once its done if anyone has experience in integrating custom scripts into word press then we could help each other getting it usable for WP users

Bumping this thread to see where everyone is at. A number of people mentioned being in the process of developing a custom solution - did you get anywhere successfully with that?

In April 2020 - how are you as an affiliate both serving properly geolocated content AND delivering a fast loading site using tools like WP Rocket or other cache plugins.

I'm so deep into this rabbit hole.

I've since switched Caching completely off as i couldn't Geo Target properly which was more damaging in terms of conversion that it was for site speed. I've had to make a trade off between converting the traffic i do get properly versus getting the traffic in the first place through having a speedy site and then not converting the traffic because my Geo Targeting wasn't working correctly.

Honestly that's the simplest option. Get a decent server and turn the cache off. Or better still, exclude the pages that need geotargeting from the cache and leave it on elsewhere.

I tried that first, but realised that even my goto casino scripts were being cached, and they are on every page, so no other option other than to switch it off completely.
