Noob question - How long did it take you to get 1st depositing player?

**playonlinepoker** · 4 July 2010, 3:50 pm

Hi there, I was wondering if some of the more established members could tell me how long it took them to get their first depositing player to sign up.

I know it obviously varies from site to site, but I'm interested if their is some average benchmark for this.

Thanks in advance

Looking at it from the other side of the fence, I would say that it takes on average around 6 months to 1 year for brand new affiliates to get their first purchaser.

Most affs tend to give up before that time because they expect a quicker turnover time, but hang in there... and good luck

**WildmanSC** · 5 July 2010, 1:27 am

it's been just about a year, but no sign ups. Hanging in there though. Sign ups are important to me, but I enjoy what I do.

8 hours 33 minutes from time of launch... no kidding, didn't know the peep either but they are still depositing and playing...Talk about sweet luck!

Good luck to you, I'm sure you will see a few soon.

Disclaimer: That time may actually be off by plus or minus 1 hour but it's close

Yikes, for those folks that made it in 6 months or a year my hats of to you, it has taken me about 3 years, and depositors, and sign ups where hit and miss, good thing I have a lot of patience, right now after 3 years I am slowly beginning to see, some loyal recurring players.

Like anything else I think you have to be persistent and eventually it will come, this business is like any other, takes time, hard work and persistence. A good affiliate helps also.

It just vary from site to site or you can say every gambling owners are having different different policies. So just try to find out by yourself after playing the game. But always play the game in trustable sites........

**Nandakishore** · 5 July 2010, 9:39 am

It was around 6 months, but the first depositer was a high roller giving some regular income for the next 6 months during which the number of depositing players grew, slowly.

**offyourface** · 5 July 2010, 11:19 am

I got lucky and landed a player my 2nd month in. He was a whale, earned me a cool $1.44 that month. That still got me excited though, it showed me this business worked and I could be as successful as I wanted to be if I put in the time.

Dang son! Thats crazy.

I remember I had a site years ago when I was a student that I put up and forgot about. It was literally just a list of poker rooms - and the site had almost no back links and terrible SEO. One day I log into my neteller account to see $60 sitting in it from an affiliate program!

That was actually the motivation to come back and give it a real try!

**gyelloz** · 5 July 2010, 12:44 pm

I've been going at it for 3 months and still nothing. I have been getting some visitors to the site every day, and a few clicks as well. I had a couple sign ups, but I think they were just bonus chasers, and stopped playing once the bonus ran out. Just trying to persevere, and find more ways to expand/market the site. It's bound to happen sometime... right?

I guess I will chime in on this one more time, one of the things that makes this business so rewarding, is because it can be really hard and challenging, but when you do make a sale whether its a dollar or a hundred, boy does it make the hard work all the more worth it. And what a great feeling of accomplishment.

Meanwhile I'll keep having fun developing my sites and building backlinks every day :]

I'll let you know as soon as I start seeing the fruits of my labor.

Are you getting clicks at least? If so I'd say to look into your analytics stats (i'm assuming you have them on your site) and see where the traffic is coming from.. You may be able to determine why this traffic isn't converting. Could be something simple.

Have a look at what people are searching for in the SEs to find your site, and what pages they are landing on from those keywords. Make sure what they are searching for is what they are getting. etc

If you need a hand, let me know

4/08 Launched my first site
9/08 Launched my niche site
2/10 First 1k month
6/10 First 2k month (Yippie!!!)

Some where between 4/8 and 6/10 I had my first depositing player (lol) but all that matters to me is where I am now.

It definately took some time to make my first 1k but I didn't give up when it seemed that I was never going to make it.

And you should not either playonlinepoker!

You are going to hear it over and over that it takes time and it's so true. (Unless you are like the guru and are just lucky like that. I wonder if he's that lucky spinning slots? lol)

It may seem that I am cheering myself on (and I am in a way) but I really want you to see that it can happen for you too if you keep at it.

Good Luck to you always!

I have had my site up for almost 2 months and have not got any sign ups. But I came into this for the long run and knew it was a long term strategy. But I have to say all the encouragement that everyone has shown you has helped me to keep a positive outlook. So thanks.

Seriously, for me this is not even a question. First or last makes no difference. That you CAN get players to sign up is the real issue you face

It depends on the product and how well it converts but that is just ONE variable in a very complex equation.. We do a LOT of campaigns and the click / signup ratio is so wide and varied no one can possibly hope to answer any question like this with any sort of accuracy. It is all going to depend on your advertising campaigns. Are they targeted, are they LASER targeted. The more targeted they are thee higher player retention and the higher quality of the traffic. That's what its really about.

Quality not quantity.

What are you doing in your advertising campaigns and what volume are you doing it in. If you are doing media buys, how many a week, across how many different verticals. Are you campaigning offline. Have you got your own freeroll sites running or whatever.

As you can see there's a lot more to this than just your basic question posed in your post

Best of luck.

The first sign up took a few months (but that was no deposit!). Bingo players love their freebies, so I was doubtful that I was ever going to make any money.

Cut a long story short, I think it was about 6 months until anyone deposited, and I continued to work hard and now have quite a few regular players from said site.

I stopped working on the bingo site to concentrate on other sites, but even after 9 months of not touching the bingo site I still get regular visitors and every now and then get nice surprises from certain affiliate accounts when I go and check the balance.

Im now in a similar position, but this time with my caisno sites and I know very little about casino compared to bingo, but the thing that keeps me going is knowing what I know now about doing an affiliate site. I think it's down to hard work and commitment!
