Google announced today that it is sunsetting Universal Analytics on 1 July 2023, just over 16 months from now. You can read the announcement here:
Prepare for the future with Google Analytics 4
In July of 2023, Google will stop processing new hits and previously processed data in Universal Analytics is only promised to remain available for six months after that.
The replacement platform, Google Analytics 4, was first introduced on 31 July 2019 in the following announcement:
A new way to unify app and website measurement in Google Analytics.
If you have already switched to Google Analytics 4, there is nothing to do. But, if you have not made the switch yet, you might want to do it soon so that you have more historical data available on the new platform before data is no longer available to you in the old Universal Analytics platform.
Besides voting in the poll, I especially invite you to share your personal experience with the new platform if you have already made the switch, and your guidance to others about making the switch.
Michael
