Magazine advertising/editorial worthwhile?

Hi everyone,

I'm considering starting a portal and I was curious to see how important/valuble you think it is to try to get the site (once it's up and running) mentioned in a gambling magazine like Casino Player or Gambling Online. How about placing ads there? Are either of these options at all effective when it comes to getting visitors to a site? Has anyone here had their site(s) included in an article and was it beneficial?

I haven't tried magazine advertising and would be interested to hear some views as well.

I did however have a site of mine mentioned in a magazine twice and it brought in some half decent traffic and a few players. I'm not sure about advertising though.

I tried advertising for 3 months straight in Gambling Online Magazine and the results were very dissapointing.

I did buy a full page inside front cover ad in Hustler Canada. and that month i did receive above average traffic. The income was also high for the month.
