Free SSL Certificates

I use Lets Encrypt and it works for about three months. I had a programmer work on my other site and he got a permanent SSL. Does anyone have any recs?

Therefore it should be auto-renewed. Does it NOT autorenew for you? Ive ran several SSLs for years and it has never failed.

You would need a certificate on your hosting server as well. Their SSL secures the connection between the user and cloudflare , your server ssl would secure the connection between cloudflare and your server.

I guess it depends what it’s for. If you literally just need https to stop browser alerts and appease google (which is why most of us do it, I’d imagine) then you don’t need a certificate on the server end.

You are right. I guess I am just one of those more paranoid people, that wants the most secure option, especially since the SSL is provided by the hosting company through Let's Encrypt for free and the Full Strict SSL option on Cloudflare is available.

I am not using cloudflare on these sites, I am using the sucuri firewall.

Weird. This is straight up from their FAQ "Let’s Encrypt SSL certificates are valid for 90 days and our system will automatically renew it for free 30 days before its expiration in order to avoid service interruption."

Siteground has been doing 3 months free without auto renewal. I was not using Cloudflare on those sites so I didn't have access to their SSL's.

You're better of with CloudFlare SSL option, since it's free and good.

An origin server SSL is just as important, as it encrypts the connection between your host and Cloudflare. All of that "non-important irrelevant stuff" like your login credentials and db passwords go through that.

The Let's Encrypt certificate can be used indefinitely. If your hosting provider does not automatically update it, it may be worth considering changing hosting providers. Best of luck

You'd think... but some don't. Even some big names don't do it on all plans - TSO, for example, don't have it on their cpanel hosting (or at least they didn't, I haven't used them in a while).

You must have a set-up problem on siteground. All my sites are with siteground and all use lets encrypt and all update automatically and it has never failed. It is probably a very small adjustment you or support need to make. Their support, as you say, will sort you out.

First check with your web hosting service provider. Some hosting server's providing free SSL Certificate.
