Default pr3 poker site based on spam

    Hello,

I discovered a new (5 months old) poker site page rank 3 which is totally based on spam.

850 back links all spam, only a few related to gambling.

content pages written in English (this is a German site) by some1 who does not seem to know anything about poker.

The site has some traffic as it ranks #280,000 in Alexa.

Additionally they sold some back links, monetizing their spam pyramid.

One interesting aspect is that they obviously know what they are doing, so the anchor text is always something like online poker. But it seems that google was not able to look beyond the anchor text and see that these sites giving back links to them have nothing to do with gambling. Maybe the fact that the sites are in German does not help.

Written in English with a German domain, care to let us know the website URL is for us to take a look and what is it about this site that you're concerned of?

    Don't worry about it,

I posted this two weeks ago and as no senior member of this forum has answered this post, it certainly does not seem to be a problem.

It's not that the members don't care, it's just that you made somewhat of a general post and dd not provide enough information for anyone to follow up.

Yes spam is a serious problem, but I asure you the site you found is certainly NOT the only one out there, and I'm sure it won't be the last.

I wish we could all just snap our fingers and problems like this would go away, but they won't and we can't.

If you would provide a little more information about the specific site you found, we could all take a look at it, maybe make sure a lot of us are not linking to it if we also feel its spam and of low quality, and maybe more of us could learn from it.

Agree with Rick's comments to your post . If you had provided a URL with your post I am pretty sure you would have received some responses, but there is not much anyone can do when they have no clue what site it is that you were referring to.

When I first read your post I was thinking that your definition of spam is different than mine. I don't think that having links from non-gambling sites is spam. Most people who have blogs and sites are not gambling related and link to gambling sites. I think it's more about "stickyness" than spam.

Even if a site was PR5, from thousands of links on someone's network. If it's poor quality the readers won't come back, or click the links.
What works long term is good content and value to the end user.

    hello,

the reason I did not post the url, is that I do not want trouble with this webmaster; he did not hurt me personally. i thought that just giving a general description would suffice to describe the situation, apparently not.

after further thought, maybe it is not what people mean by spam, maybe just some black hat stuff.

please excuse me to have bothered some of you, next time i will try to post more intelligent material. as i said please forget about this.
