Default Which Non-Gambling areas are more connected to Sports Betting?

Which Non-Gambling areas are more connected to Sports Betting?

    Hello guys,

Im not sure which areas are most connected to betting.

For instance. Lets say Im able to get a link from a website selling sport shoes. And Im able to get a link from a browser gaming site.

How does google look at it?
Sport shoes = very similar to Sports betting. So it’s a good link?
Browser games = very similar go betting / gambling. So it’s a good link?

What would be good areas outside of the gambling area to try to get links from?

Is there any sort of list / graph / overview for what is most connected to sports betting / gambling?

    Take care
    Torge

    Are these purchased links?
    Are they followed or no-followed?
What else do they link to?
Is the site respected and ranks well?
Do they link to anyone and everyone that will buy a link?

Lets say I found a do follow link, its a good well established site with quite high metrics (PR4, DA40+ & more), they do not link to anyone crazy.

I mean. If all other metrics are good. If the link itself is good.

Does it matter WHERE, in which area of the web its coming from if its anyway outsite of gambling?

Its the same to get a link from a sport shoes selling site and a milkproducer site?

Or does it matter that "sport"-shoes are more connected to "sports"-betting than "milk" with "sports betting"?

Or other way around. **** it, where the link is from, as long as the link itself is a good link and most of your links are from the gambling area?
Because anyway noone is linking to gambling. So if I have the luck to find a website from out there. Take it. Get it and dont worry about that its not connected to gambling?

Most no longer beleive that a link is a link is a link, and think that it really DOES matter where a link is coming from.

A link from a milk producer's site to a gambling site will have very little value to the user/visitor so why "should" google give it any value.

Yes sport shoes are a little more connected, but of less value than sites connected to games or sports on the site linked to. Would the link be of value to the visitor?

I think indeed value will be slightly lower if the site is not related.
    However, they should not hurt.

Let's say you're actually commenting a blog about milk - because whatever - and use your name, and and can leave your website @, most likely you're going to use your gambling site (unless you do have one about milk, cows or whatever), then why should this link (do or no-follow) negatively impact your site?

I think what hurts would be doing the same, and instead of using your name (I believe i read google pushes you to use your real name when commenting) you'd go for some exact match terms, or very related to your industry. In that case i guess it could be considered as spammy comment, and thus be negative.

So IMO, if what you're doing is really commenting on do-follow sites, this should not be a big deal...

    Thoughts from experts?

Commenting on a blog about milk, and then dropping a link to a sports betting site is comment spam mostly and in my opinion if one did much of that kind of off-topic commenting with links itcould hurt you.

I agree with the "much of".
But if you do that a fair way, meaning dropping your link in actual quality comments on sites you visit, i don't see why it should have a negative impact. Unless you mean that IF your site is NOT related at all to the site you're comment on, you better NOT even leave a website URL in the box?

Well, how related to a milk producers is a sports betting site? (since we were using that example)

Now if they ran a blog post about how a bookie was carrying a line on what volume their company would produce that year or what the price would be next month or something, then that would be different.

Or if the parent company were running a promotion that tied in with a local sports team or anything that was a closer tie in then I would say it would be safer

Sorry Rick, what i mean here is that based on what i understand, you suggest that if you ever post a comment (a legit one i mean! truly based on your interest in the topic dealt with by the site you're commenting on), then you should NOT post your link even though you do have the opportunity to do so (because they have a URL secton in the comment box, or use CommentLuv, etc). Is that what you mean?

I took a sample (sorry, was not visiting a milk blog, but was looking for a new beard trimmer, and randomly went through this site, which actually serves my example well.. )

    http://www.best-beard-trimmer.co.uk/...-er-gb40-blue/

    Now 2 scenarios

    1. I own a casino site
    2. I want to build quick backlinks from do-follow sites
    3. I come through the site i mentioned, see that i can drop a link, drop a comment, eventually even replace my name by "online casino" anchor text to even optimize further this link and leave.

--- SPAM comment, YES. Most likely low quality, easy to detect, if the webmaster is actually monitoring, big chances this comment actually gets deleted.

    1. I own a casino website
    2. I'm looking for a new beard trimmer. Can happen, i'm a man...
    3. I find this site, and can comment on it. I believe i can bring value with a comment, and decide, because this sites gives me the opportunity to do so, to leave my URL on top of my (real) name and email.

--- High quality comment, very possible that the webmaster validates it as it's not using any spammy word, but sounds like a legit comment or even question from one of the readers. Is that really a spammy comment? I mean, yes, i could chose NOT to leave my URL, but if i can do so?

If the link was a live conversation you were having with the website owner, could you justify handing your business card to this person (the site owner) without it seeming out of the ordinary? Do you think with some degree of certainty that handing him your business card will generate business for you (directly or indirectly)?

If handing him your business card would seem out of place or awkward, then the link is probably of no value as you're just throwing **** against the wall in hopes that some will stick. If it seems "normal" for him to receive the business card at the end of your conversation and he looks at the card, completely understanding why you gave him your card (other than thinking to himself that you only spoke because you're trying to generate a sale of your own), then the link is probably good.

If you are genuinely interested in talking about cows, milk production and the process of pasturizing, then the comments may not be considered spam, but a link to a sportsbetting site still might be considered spammy.

A link to a butter producing site or other dairly related products may not be though since they are somewhat related.

I have to agree with Rick. A link should always be related. For example, if I am running a sports betting blog then I would most likely comment on a sports blog. This is as far outside gambling I would be willing to go. Maybe a general news site that had an article on a sports team, player, or someone close to the sport. Then I would be willing to comment with my link. Because it is related. Commenting on a milk blog is pointless and a waste of time for a sports betting blog.

Alright, so conclusion is: if you're interested in any other topic but gambling, and decide to comment on a site, do not leave your link.
Leave a comment, if you want to, but not your link.

So if i'm interested in beard trimmer and decide to comment on this site, then i should not leave my URL.

Well a sig link, or a link in your profile at the forum or blog could get the occassional visitor or person that enjoys reading your comments to ask you for more information when seeing your link, but to post an off topic link with the comment certainly would not have good seo value.

If you are concerned about a link that might hurt you could always use a sig that generates interest, and follow up with people personally.

We had a bit of discussion on this just weeks ago, maybe a little longer, I would think you would want to be a bit careful with links on sites totally unrelated.

You may want to read this discussion, it is along the same lines but deals more with guest posting for links.
