Changing page names?

Hello to everyone,

In this days i am working to improve my site and search engine rank so what i wanted to know is IF i change page names ( from kazino to kazino online ) will cause any problem on my page rank and crawl?

I want to change only few of them

No no, i mean page name only, it is kazino-portal.com/kazino and i want to make it, kazino-portal.com/kazino-online

You will need to make a new page with the url you want add your old content and then 301 redirect the old page to the new one. When search engines crawl your site they will see the page has moved to a new url. You do need to keep the old page though and add the redirect to that page.

The option here in sitebuilder is to change only the name of page, and will keep all data, is not that enough, i really must create a new page with old page content?

This is usually how i do it when i change other pages before some months

I've never used site builder before so I couldn't say. It sounds like it is just changing the name of the page and not the page url.

step #2 put the redirect on the old url like this http://www.phpjunkyard.com/tutorials/php-redirect.php if you can not use .htaccess or ask the hosting company for the 301 redirect thru .htaccess or put there so called canonical link [it is as good as 301]

Thank you man, now that i see in the past, i made many mistakes because i change page names and i think i lost some visitors

it is not a problem, if you remember the old names you can and should still do the redirects

in case you do not remember what the exactl urls were, use majesticseo, submit there your webiste and it should list many of them, maybe all

the ones that disappeared should have redirects

I don't think it'll make any difference to Google and you may be wasting your time.

If the pages are showing up in webmaster tools as 404's though it doesn't hurt to do the redirects.

if the page you want to rename shows a lot of visits then I would also suggest to make a 301 redirect and build up a new page.
