Default Crypto payment solutions for iGaming operators

    Hello,

Many gambling projects seem to be moving towards crypto payments recently.

Curious how operators here handle payment processing today.

Are most casinos relying on crypto only or still combining it with traditional payment processors depending on GEO?

It is not a recent move, and in fact started almost at the beginning of bitcoin itself.

While there are some operators that are crypto only, many more offer it as an option.

That's a fair point. Crypto has definitely been around in gambling for quite a while.
It’s actually interesting to see how crypto payments have evolved and attracted a large number of users over the years.
At the same time, I wonder whether more casinos are relying on crypto today, since for many players it’s still easier and more as usual to use traditional fiat payment methods.
I was mostly curious whether operators today are relying on crypto more heavily due to increasing restrictions from traditional payment providers.
Have you seen more operators shifting toward crypto-first setups recently?

Alot new systems has developed. There are options now where everything on the backend is happening in crypto but the users never find out as he is on-ramping/off-ramping in Fiat.

Two things worth adding because they're often missed in these "is crypto coming" conversations — it already came, and the dust settled around a fairly boring standard.

USDT is the de-facto standard at this point. Not BTC, not ETH, not "crypto" as a vague category. When operators or affiliates talk about crypto payments today they mean USDT (with USDC as a distant second on the more compliant side). The volatility argument that used to be the main objection just doesn't apply to a stablecoin, which is why it won. Anything that quotes player balances in BTC is a marketing decision now, not an operational one.

And operators have been running their own wallet infrastructure for years. Hot wallet for deposits and withdrawals, cold storage for the float, internal ledger to track player balances independently of the chain — this stopped being interesting around 2019. The ones still routing through third-party payment gateways for crypto are either small or doing it for compliance reasons (so the gateway holds the license). Everyone at any meaningful scale handles it in-house, the same way they wouldn't outsource their fiat ledger.

So when the question is "are operators moving to crypto", the honest answer is most of them already did, on USDT, with their own wallets, and the conversation moved on a few years ago. What's actually new in the last 12-18 months is closer to what Zubairey described — fiat-in / stablecoin-settle / fiat-out, which lets operators that started crypto-native start serving fiat markets cleanly. That's the live shift, not crypto adoption itself.

hybrid feels like the move. fiat keeps onboarding easy, crypto handles speed and reach. crypto-only probably leaves too many casual players behind.

From what I’ve seen, this is probably where most serious operators are heading. Crypto-only sounds attractive until you look at the average player who just wants to deposit with a card and play without thinking about wallets, networks, gas fees, etc. The interesting part is that crypto can still do a lot behind the scenes — faster settlements, lower processing issues, easier GEO expansion — without forcing the user to know they’re even using it. I think the winners will be the ones that make crypto invisible for normal players rather than trying to turn every customer into a crypto user.
