Fast forward to today, and it feels much quieter.

I think that Web3 solved problems that most casino players didn't really have. Nobody was sitting there thinking "I wish this casino had a DAO" before making a deposit. Where I still see potential is more on the backend side — things like provable fairness, better transparency, maybe ownership models for communities. But as a selling point to everyday players? I don't see much demand.
In the end the brands that win are probably going to be the ones that hide the complexity and just deliver a better gambling experience. Most users don't care what technology is behind it if withdrawals are instant and the site is trustworthy.

In all my life, there are only two casinos I'm going to even contemplate connecting my wallets to. But then, they dont even demand that you cconnect your wallet. You just make deposits. Even with that, there are still risks cos you dont have custody of them

Even the supposed innovations seemed kinda useless. Provably Fair and the sort were kinda marketed as solving trust issues, but the only thing that matters in that the casino has a license. Blockchain gambling is pointless offering in both cases; with and without license.
