Hi,

I purchased a domain sometime last year that is valid until 13th July 2026.



I was creating this webstie offline using XAMPP and just never got around to purchasing a hosting provider; and as time went on I lost interest and am keen to move onto another venture, but it seems a waste to just let the domain rot.

I parked the domain using Sedo a few days ago and have it up for sale for £70, if anyone is interested.

Here's the preview of the progress I was doing, I started off as a complete noob at this and if I had the motivation could probably have ended up with a decent site; but again the interest just isn't there anymore at the moment, maybe sometime in the future I will give it another go.

Do you still have the content and backups etc of the site progress you had made and will that be turned over with the sale?

Hi Universal.

Yes I do to answer your question. I have everything I have done in my XAMPP directory, I haven't deleted this folder and could archive everything into a RAR file and upload along with the sale as well as logos (Which is in another folder altoghter I think).

As stated I was new to this and have logos in another part of my computer rather than the XAMPP directory itself, which I wouldn't think would be a problem for more experienceed website developers.

I also have a text file with the colour hexes as well...I'll have to dig everything thing out which will be no problem.

So I've logged into my localhost/testsite/wp-admin account via XAMPP (For the first time in about 7 months) and have exported the whole site using the "All in one WP Migration" plugin if that is helpful. I'd imagine all one has to do is use the same plugin and import the .WPRESS File it created.

I've archived that and all of the logos into one .rar file.

I honestly don't have much of an idea about how domain name transfers happen....either through Sedo or otherwise.

I also think that upon an agreement of the domain sale I would have to loginto my localhost/testsite/wp-admin account and change the Email address to the new owners accordingly. If anyone can correct me if I'm wrong.

I would urge you to get a separate database export. Many prefer an independent db export or dump file. I think "all in one" has that available and the dump file will likely not be very large.

For the domain transfer, you should wait at least until such time as you make a deal with someone on the sale.

Once you have a deal, and probably after payment is made, you would then log in to the registrar, and unlock the domain transfer. The purchaser would create the transfer request, and you as the current owner would receive an email asking if you agree to the transfer request.

You would want to read the email carefully to make sure the request is being made by the person you made the deal with, and authorize the request. Depending on what registrar it is how that authorization takes place. Some ask you to reply a certain way, or click a certain link that says yes, and some you do nothing.

I have never used namecheap so not sure how theirs work, maybe someone familiar with then can answer that.

Thanks Rick, that was some helpful info.

When I started out I did have a good lurk around GPWA while attempting to learn everything I should about web development and SEO...I literally spent weeks watcing and downloading YT videos about setting up a website, pretty links, yoast and tons of other essential plugins and wordpress themes.

If nothing else it has been a very enlightening and educational experience. So if the domain fails to get interest I can always pick up where I left off at some point I get the motivation I started out with, although I will have to relearn everything; but thankfully at a much quicker rate

As for the domain transfer I would imagine it should be pretty straightfoward via Sedo if it's just the domain name people want.

If someone does prefer to have the logos and the starting base I created then I'm sure it shouldn't be difficult to work out.

I did have an alternative logo that I was going for but opted for the neon blueish one instead.
