Red face Hello from a new Canada-focused casino affiliate

    Hello everyone,

I run an independent casino review site focused on the Canadian market. The site launched in January 2026, so I'm still at the beginning of my journey.

My approach is more documentary. So instead of making claims I can't back up, I read each operator's terms, payment pages and licence records and publish what they actually commit to in writing. One thing that surprised me early on: almost no operator publishes an actual Interac payout time, only pending periods and approval windows.

Canada is an interesting market to work in right now. Ontario and Alberta each have their own regulated market, while the rest of the country works differently, so a lot of my time goes into keeping the right content in front of the right province.

I'm here to learn from people who have been in this industry much longer than I have, especially around affiliate programs, link building for a young site, and compliance across different markets. Happy to share what I've learned about the Canadian side in return.

For those of you working in Canada: how are you handling the new Alberta market?

    Cheers!

Have a read through the forums and use search strings like canada or alberta. You will get many hundreds of results as canada has been discussed extensively in the last few years. (sure some results will be domains or links but there are many very healthy discussions)

Thanks alot for the answer! I will try to dig through the older Canada threads first before asking questions that may have already been answered.

Alberta is the part im most curious about, since the regulated market only opened in July 2026 and things are still moving so quickly. The provincial register has grown to around 40 sites in a short time, and some brands that operators announced as launched still arent listed. It will be interesting to see how the older discussions compare with how things are actually playing out now.

Agreed that some information in threads many years old might not be currently accurate but it may provide a baseline.

Welcome to the forum, redleafreviews, and your documentary approach is a real strength for a young site. Readers in a regulated market trust pages that show what an operator actually commits to in writing, rather than repeating a headline bonus claim.

For Alberta specifically, I would treat the register as a living list rather than a one-time check. Recheck it on a fixed schedule, date-stamp any page that names a licensed brand, and keep a separate note when an announced launch is not yet listed, because that gap is exactly what confuses readers. The same discipline helps with Ontario: keep Ontario-only claims on Ontario pages, and avoid implying that a brand available in one province is automatically available in the same form elsewhere in Canada.

Your Interac point is worth turning into a practical comparison. Instead of publishing a single payout time you cannot verify, show the pending period, the approval window, and what the operator says happens after approval, side by side. That lets readers see why two sites with similar headlines can feel very different in practice, and it gives you a page that stays useful even when individual times change.

For link building on a young site, I would start with pages that answer a specific Canadian question well, such as how a province's rules affect payment or registration, rather than chasing broad review terms first. Those focused pages are easier for other sites to cite, easier to keep accurate, and they build the topical depth that helps the broader review pages later.

Good point. I have already gone through a few older threads to get a better picture of how things looked before Ontario opened its regulated market back in 2022. Comparing that with how Alberta is rolling out now already helps to see which problems were Ontario-specific and which ones keep repeating. Thanks for steering me in the right direction!

Welcome to the GPWA. As Rick mentioned, you'll find several discussions about the Canadian market here. I would suggest not only reading through them but also identifying the members who are working in that market. That way, you can connect with them and keep an eye on their contributions.

I took a quick look at your site, and I found myself wondering how you will keep all that information up to date as your site grows. I think you have a good approach, but as you add more operators and content, keeping track of changes in terms, payment policies, and licensing details could become unmanageable. Have you thought about how you'll manage that?

Thanks for the warm welcome and for taking the time to look at the site! I will try to keep an eye out for the members active in Canada. And if anything else caught your eye on the site, I am always open to feedback!

You are right that keeping it current is the real challenge with this approach, so I tried to build for it from the start:

    - I deliberately keep the list of operators small and only add one when I can actually maintain it.
    - Payout terms, limits and licence details are stored once per operator as structured data, and the comparison tables pull from there, so a change in the terms only has to be updated in one place.
    - I am committed to re-checking licence registers monthly and the full review data quarterly.
    - Every figure carries a "last checked" date, so readers can see how current something is.

Whether that scales to 50+ operators, I honestly dont know yet. For now Id rather cover fewer operators properly than more of them badly. If you can point me to any threads on how others here handle this once their site grows, Id really appreciate it.

I'd be interested to know if you get approved for the regulated casino programs. Normally they don't want to be involved with affiliates who are pushing unregulated sites also. It's probably an emerging regulated market in Canada so maybe less strict?
