Wondering how people find content writers and what you pay for them.

I've tried a couple of content writers in the past, but I've had to go in and fix grammatical errors, etc.

Plus, I don't know how it's physically possible to push-out 20 articles @ 1,000 words or so each, and have all those completed, in 2 or 3 days, whilst keeping that content 100% original.

Have paid US$0.04 a word, and then went to US$0.06, thinking the extra 0.02 cents would ensure higher quality. But no it did not.

Frankly, I'd rather take a week to write my own content, than pay someone to re-spin average content.

I just use AI as it churns out far better content than some of these "article writers" do these days. Also do not kid yourself, 99% of article "writers" will be using AI these days. In my opinion the days of being an article writer for money are well and truly over.

I'm glad writing content and translating texts are no longer my primary gigs. I used to get paid at both ends, less than 0.02 per word and more than 0.08 per word (depending on the language, the client, and my needs at the time, tbh).

Nowadays, I write all my content and use AI tools to ensure everything is in order. I don't believe AI tools can substitute writers at the moment, but they are definitely making it more difficult for them to make a living.

I think if you are the expert then you'll catch no only grammar and spelling but actually share real industry insights that players want.

I don't pay per word. I pay my tipster "Beer money" per article.
Article length varies depending on what they have to say about a match.

    Exactly.

People are aware that there is a lot of money in the gambling industry. As a result, there are countless "professional" content writers who bring no actual added value.

The other problem is that casinos and affiliates (so we) look for content writers who don't charge high fees for their services.

I'm not a content writer myself, although I create a lot of content on my website alone. But given the knowledge of the industry I've gathered over the years of working here and the ability to do thorough and quality SEO (not just put words on paper), I can tell you I would charge a lot more than $0.1 per word were I a professional content writer. But tell me honestly, would you pay for it?

We also tried to 'raise' some content writers of our own, so they wouldn't be just money hunters, but actually grow with our team and know how to bring value to the things they write. But there are two problems there: first, you have to find someone who actually wants to be a content writer, isn't sloppy, and is thorough and persistent enough to learn and do the work. Secondly, the same person must find online gambling interesting enough to keep writing and learning about it. All. The. Time.

So far, I haven't met such a person.

As it has been said above, you won't actually ever know how the content you paid for was created. I've tried paying for content and was really never satisfied with the result, even in cases where I provided reference pages from my website saying "Please make it exactly like this", which is why I create my own content. It obv takes way more time and research (in some cases) but unless you are planning to run a content farm type of website - it is definitely worth it.

Sometimes I create content for other people and it's usually 0.03 per word. That's eur btw. But I do make an emphasis on quality and completely open on how I do it. Everything would be written by me, yet I will still use AI to go over the created content and suggest edits, which I can either incorporate / alter / ignore based on my own judgement. Also, if the requested topic is something I know nothing about - I will not take on that task.

I find it tough training writers. I can find many but the content itself just isn't inspiring for you to read it more. Better than nothing but just working less with outsourced writers and agree with others here.

Only 5 votes but good insights from comments.

Oh I know some good. And ChatGPT is on bulk for quality no option, its just copy the existing nonsense.

Gambling wise, I have no big demand on fresh (casino) content and @Juan Roman is doing an excellent job here.

But I can tell you what a skilled German speaking supplier is asking for content for our non gambling related stuff ... it's about €0.15 plus a word.

Over the years, I've had a need to obtain the services of professional editors, who have written Press Releases. These people aren't 'hacks', they are tertiary qualified journalists. The quality of work is outstanding. The professionalism shone, and media outlets ran these.

Haven't had the need for this service for 10+ years but back then I paid AU$0.20 per word for 500 words ($100) a Press Release.

The majority of content charged for in this industry is cr#pola. It's like this because the industry is generally tighter than a fish's b#tt-hole. Only have to look at how a commission of 40% is jumped on so much, that the affiliate earns less than 1/2 of that value, at times far less.

Dog eat dog... Hence, what is a fair and generally accepted per word cost for content in mainstream media circles, becomes a non-event in this industry. So most content writers are forced to charge peanuts, and therefore the quality is far below par.

Reiterating... 23 years in this gig, and the content I've paid to be written for my sites, has turned out to be re-spun and grammatically incorrect, that I've had to go back into every article and basically fix it myself.

Yes there some folks like Juan Roman who push out excellent work.

But on a whole, the content most folks pay for is mind numbing, cookie cutter dribble.

There are gambling topics that AI will never be able to write (except in a totally irrelevant way). Check mine for example: http://probability.infarom.ro/cb.html
Besides, Google has already included human writing in the equation of ranking.

Google can't tell the difference between good AI and human content. I have used AI to write some very complex gambling articles. Far far better content than "native writers". Also, again, the vast majority of paid "writers" will be using AI these days, they'd have to be lacking something between the ears not to.

I'd agree. But in this case, it's most likely the name that 'counts'.

While I agree with many of the comments on here - I can speak from a different perspective. I have several affiliate websites myself and make a decent income off them, but believe it or not - my passion is writing content and I don't mean AI content - I mean genuine human written content which really does exist.

Yes, on the odd occassion I use Chatgpt to give me suggestions to get headings to write about when the creative juices aren't flowing and I use Wordtune to change around a sentence if I can't think of a suitable alternative, but when it comes to actual genuine writing - I do it myself as I simply don't trust AI programs as those I have tested often speak a load of crap!

However, what makes me see absolute red is when AI detection sites detect my own written work as AI and this has happened several times as some of my clients like a zerogpt report included. How does one change their own work to make it look like it isn't AI !!!

I find it easy to write about gambling related stuff as I have been in the industry for 20 years, so as far as I am concerned there is no need to have assistance unless I am writing about a topic I don't have much knowledge on, and in this case I research it just like I have always done.

From a cost point of view I normally charge 0.05c per word and believe my work is worth every penny.

The funny part in all of this is that my own sites rarely get updated with new content as I am too busy writing for clients, so I land up using 2c per letter writers for my own sites and wonder why the content is not very good!!

I would give little to no interest at all, AI "detectors" are simply tools made by charlatans. The exact same happened when Google hid their PR metrics, all the Charlatans like Moz come out with their own useless metrics, purporting to be the new PR.

It varies depending on the topic and the expertise required. I have a selection of good, trusted writers that are on a typical rate of around $0.04-0.05.

I have tried the 0.02-0.03 rates a few times, but it has always been more hassle than it is worth, unreliable writers, lots of editing required, duplicate / copied / 100% AI content.

For some content I will pay more up to $0.10-0.12 but only where that content is highly unique and requires a deep understanding of the topic and it needs to be something neither I or AI could do.

Mattbar, would you mind sharing an example of the content you're referring to? I am curious, I like to keep improving my writing and find it immensely beneficial to read texts that represent the level I aspire to reach.
