Custom Content Shortcode EOL + Breaking Changes

[baldidiot]

Just FYI if anyone here uses CCS - they've announced it's now EOL and won't be getting updates. Time to dust off your php skills and convert all those shortcodes!

On a side note they also introduced a bit of an annoying change in the final update, shortcodes that reference fields (any kind of field - including core and custom) will only work if the page author is an admin.

It's not the most common plug in but I've seen a few people refer to it over the years on GPWA.

Guessing you mean this plugin? (if not shout and I will fix)

That seems kinda off to do that to folks, but guessing it will continue to work, but if it ends up being vulnerable in some way many will want to find an alternative.

Yeah that's the one. It's a shame as it was a nice little time saver.

They've actually just added a setting to fix the admin shortcode issue, which is a positive. Hopefully they'll keep doing security patches for it in the short term as well.
