Flags on portal sites

Greetings,

I am considering using country flags on my site and have been looking around at other portal sites and have observed the following:

It seems that many sites post USA flags to indicate the respective site accepts players from the US of A.

But that doesn't seem consistent across all sites.

So my question is, are flags meant to show:

1. What countries players are accepted from?
2. What language the site accommodates?
3. Where the server is located?

I think this totally depends on what you want to show on your site.

Sites show whether the casino is available to US or not because they may target english speaking countries only and the majority of players from english speaking countries come from the US.

So depending on which language your site is in, and which countries you're targeting, you should probably base the flag system on that.

Flags are a nice idea to guide your traffic where you want them to go/where they are allowed to go if you don't want to geotarget. Did you look into geotargetting?

It's of course all in relation to the text placed around the flags, however I usually assume it is what language it is available in.

I'd assume for US players however it means whether they are allowed to play or not.

Sounds like a decision you can't please everyone with tbh!

That's a negative. Of all the sites I've seen they tend to just do what they want, unless they are targeting english speaking countries, then they will put a US/Non US flag. That's pretty much the only consistency I've seen.
