Yep - that's right - we had that - but it was about liquids.

Printer ink works out at about $5,500 per litre - which weighs abot a kilo ... so only around $5.50 per gram.

That puts Printer Ink as th most expensive liquid, WAY above gasoline, beer, champagne (Dom Perignon at $284 per litre) and even more expensive than Chanel #5 perfume ($3180 per litre) ...

Here is a fun infographic of liquid prices

Over the years I've always heard of people in the US complaining about how expensive their fuel is, but when I worked it out fuel in Oz is almost double what you guys pay.

What's it worth there at the moment?

I paid $2.62 per gallon yesterday in Florida. Pennsylvania pricing in the mountains is a bit more, but a few pennies under $3.00 gallon.

My guess is that New York is floating around PA pricing.

I wonder what Anthony is currently paying (oil state of Texas) and what Michael might be paying since they might have a little bit of that nasty white stuff lying around making people generally more miserable....LOL

Interesting that it is double in Oz though, I would not have guessed quite that I think.

    Wow OK.

    1 gallon = 4 litres.

Yesterday I filled up my car and paid 1.49 per litre = $5.96 per gallon.

So it's more than double what you guys are paying.

I remember when I first got my licence and I was paying about 96 cents per litre which was still more than you guys are paying now (3.84/gallon) and that was over 15 years ago.

Near the city it's over 3 Dollars a gallon at some places. On the island it is about 2.60

Petrol costs around 2.05 a litre down here ... approx 0.65 of that is local taxes to pay for roading infrastructure.
Another 0.35 is the sales tax.

That makes it around NZD $8.20 a gallon - USD $6.35 to you.
It's pricey with roading taxes and importer margins being the main reason.

Should electric cars ever become viable with an acceptable range of 200-300 miles then they will do well here.

I think I paid around $2.73 gallon last week. Crude oil has dropped around 30% a barrel since June due to USA technological advancements in fracking (they can drill down and then sideways now http://www.what-is-fracking.com/) and supposedly heading to oil independency in a few years.

In that $2.73 price is a federal tax of 18.4 cents/gallon and a varing state tax, in my state of Massachusetts its 26.5 cents/gallon.

Yep - Gas is getting cheap again! It is great for people to have a few extra dollars each month because they are not spending as much on gas but that bad side of cheaper gas, especially here in the states, is that all the advances we are making in alternative fuels will slowly start to drop off. The only time we Americans care about finding a replacement for fossil fuels is when gas is gets expensive.

In the UK petrol is really cheap at the moment, a real steal at £1.20 per litre, down from £1.35. That's 8.54USD a gallon at the moment. Bargain!

    Now for the UK Pricing.

    £1.26 per litre
    £5.04 per gallon

So that's 7.89 USD per gallon
    or 9.42 AUD per gallon

I have seen a few analysts state that part of the jump in retail sales this year can be attributed to the drop in gas pricing. I figure it should help holiday travel numbers a little too....funny most airlines have been slowly raising their pricing and fees etc...

I have recently taken a few flights and pricing was close to what it was last spring, but it would be 20% or more higher if I add in the luggage fees and other add-ons the discount airlines constantly throw at you now.

The strange thing is that only the US is seeing a drop in fuel prices.

We are not seeing it over here. In fact it is the most expensive it has been for a long time.

Hearing how much the UK and NZ are paying I'll stop complaining.
    It is ridiculous though.

The US has been raising production for a long time, so the amount we are importing is much lower today.

It is kinda strange that other countries are not seeing at least some pull back on pricing though, since I think crude is at the lowest it has been in what 7 years or more now?

Reading this thread just make me feel a tad better about our fuel prices in South Africa...

We pay R14 per liter. So thats about... $4.69 per gallon. Working 60 km's from work does not help.

Supposedly there was a guy named Charles Pogue that invented a carburetor in the 1930's that got 200 miles per gallon.
