Default New member - Tips on process to find a good market?

Hey! I’m new to the community. I’ve been playing poker professionally for the past 20 years and have been thinking for a long time about trying casino affiliate marketing as a side hustle, so I finally decided to give i go.

I was wondering if you guys have any tips on your process for choosing a market to start in? At the moment, I’m using Semrush to research different keywords across various countries and evaluating how competitive the diffrent markets look, hoping to find a small price of the market that could lead to some traffic for my first site.

Hi, Poker being very popular right now, and as you're an expert, you'll obviously need to share deeper dive content, rather than just scoring keywords? I'm not a poker player myself. But if you formulate a solid structure, and keep it consistent, I think you'll be rewarded in SEO. This might be land based casinos, online casinos, and poker venues.... Types of poker, results, wins and losses, expert strategies, associates, maybe bring in your friends & link. Photos, video shorts, edited poker images, mentioning poker terms. And I could be wrong, but I think that's the way to go. Maybe add some data table, charts, or comparison. Beat video poker. Video poker has a high payout %. Or simply display the maths, and reasoning behind the way you play.
Also consider CPC, you might want a high content site. Or you might want the affiliate style site. Just make sure you can make it unique & valuable.
I have you win poker com. I would also research, and look at competitor websites. Just deep research social media, and everywhere. Good Luck!

Start with something you're passionate about and have good knowledge and the enthusiasm to write about, otherwise the first few months/years where it's hard to get a foothold will feel like a real slog.

Welcome to the community. Since you have 20 years of professional poker experience, you have a huge advantage that many affiliates lack — deep niche knowledge. Instead of fighting for broad casino keywords in saturated markets, I would suggest focusing on high-quality, expert poker content. People trust experts, and your unique perspective can help you rank for long-tail keywords that generic SEO sites often miss.

Thanks for all the responses! The challenge with building a affilate site in the poker niche is that online poker has been in decline for quite some time, and I feel that the content market is already very saturated. But I will do do some more research and try to find a nische i poker were I might be able to get som success.

I expect you'll find that a lot of the poker content out there is dated (our simply outdated) and a fresh look from someone with a passion and knowledge for the topic could readily get some cut-through. Good luck!

Like someone above said, you have the knowledge for poker. I would take that route as poker is making a comeback.

You'd probably also want to do some research on the GEO / region, unless that was implicit in the market. Purely because there are many oversaturated high-value geos where the entry barrier is way too high.

If you have no previous experince in wordpress or backends you should try building something in Loveable or Gemini. A fun and easy way to get started even if you are new to website building. Might come with some SEO challenges.

If you're knowledgeable about poker that's your edge and where your focus probably should be in terms of content perhaps for your site. Not as profitable as other affiliate gambling sectors though obviously.
